KaiserTJ1860
So I browsed through Betrayal and pretty much fell in love with all the new goodies that you can give you're power armoured children of death. But it got me thinking, will any of them make the jump to the eventual new 40k space marine codices? I know that the jet-bike tech (and with the civil war on mars, a lot of other tech) was lost to the imperium. But it would be such a shame to take away things like the Charnabal Sabre, or Volkite and Archeotech weapons. I just think that they add a certain something to both the playing of the game, and to the modeling aspect of the hobby. There are numerous other things that this book has added with enriches the experience, so do you think some of these will carry through to the 40k era? Olis
Probably not, knowing GW. Considering my rather unhealthy fascination with Volkite weapons, I'd love to see them find their way over to 40k, but it's not something I'd put money on happening. Lord_Caerolion
I can't see them making the transference, at least as anything other than special character-only gear. After all, the Imperium is supposed to have lost lots of technology during the Heresy, so they can't still have everything that appeared in those books. What is it with you and volkite weaponry :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264455-betrayal-loadouts/#findComment-3222136 Share on other sites
Olis
What is it with you and volkite weaponry ;) I haven't got the foggiest. I'll tell you what; I'll wait here, you call the men in white coats. :) And to remain on-topic: I think Caerolion nailed it on the head when he siad the Imperium has forgotten much. They barely remember Graviton weaponry and conversion beamers, let alone the more exotic/new stuff in Betrayal. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264455-betrayal-loadouts/#findComment-3222139 Share on other sites

Xin Ceithan
I second the notion. Volkites are cool. Period. Pwer armoured disintegration madness. Go out and EXTERMINATE !! BTW if the 40K loyalists get Volkites later on and we didn`t with the new Chaos dex I`ll bloody WALK to Nottingham and punch their noses in^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264455-betrayal-loadouts/#findComment-3222174 Share on other sites
Pavement Artist
I don't really want any overlap. I like the distinction between the two periods, with 30k being the era to go to for more insane weaponry. JeffJedi
I'd consider allying 30k units to a 40k army. I know, "GASP!" right? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264455-betrayal-loadouts/#findComment-3222874 Share on other sites
GodEmperorOfMankind
My mate's already said he's happy to fight my pre-heresy legion with his 40k DA's. That should be interesting Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264455-betrayal-loadouts/#findComment-3222896 Share on other sites
KaiserTJ1860
I suppose having the distinction between the two would be a nice idea, but it does limit the 30K-verse to Loyalists vs Heretics. Its too much to ask for forgeworld to do some uniquely 30k orc, eldar etc for a wider variety of game-play, but from the appearances that they DO make, they don't seem to have changed much at all. To be honest, as long as I can throw Garvi and Saul into some battle or other I will be content enough Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264455-betrayal-loadouts/#findComment-3222908 Share on other sites
Marshal Wilhelm
I think fluffwise, it makes a nice addition or should I say subtraction, that 30K has more coolzors stuff than 40K. This is what makes GrimDark more real. Interestingly, many things that 30K wasn't supposed to have [eg. few Jump Packs, Auto cannon on Termies rather than the Assault cannon, etc.] are in 40K, which means that the reality is that 40K has access to more goodies :tu: But I can see the problem that GW faces, in that when they finish writing the 30K stuff, if they ever have a "cool idea" for 40K [such as Dreadknights, Storm ravens, etc.] they are hardly likely to reprint the 30K stuff just to add in a few sentences for people who are wanting things to be pedantically perfect. I just assume that those cool ideas were in 30K, and the journalists forgot to write about it and/or those pieces got destroyed/lost/in storage/etc. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264455-betrayal-loadouts/#findComment-3222972 Share on other sites
Nexus25
I understand that ALOT of stuff has been lost to time and disaster, but some of the weapons should still be around since things like virus bombs and conteptor's are still here. Case in point the Medusa Shells and radiation weapons. Plus since most of the Chaos marines are from the Heresy time should they not theoretical have some of these "forgotten" weapons with tech-priest, or tech-marines that also remember how they work and how to build/repair them even if its with chaosie parts.
