bjoluemblem
Let me start by saying that while having played 40k for a year and a half, I don't know how 6th ed works for GK, so I'm looking for advice on getting a buddy of mine a better setup for grey knights. He loves their fluff, and recently came into a steal of deal, ending up with this: Draigo 20 paladins with random weapons Nemesis Dreadknight with all bits He likes pallies, but knows nothing about how to make them work, and I'm looking for a way to make a list work for him at 1500-2000 points. I don't know how well this works right now as a list starter, but I want to give him as much help as possible. Anybody have thoughts on where to go from here? I've got IG, so coteaz and friends are possible for proxy, as well as most allies from space marines. (Mods-if needed, go ahead and switch this post over to the list critiques. I wasn't sure where to put it, so it's here for now.) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/264588-getting-a-friend-into-grey-knights/ Share on other sites
spartan249
Starting out in 40k with paladins should have an interesting effect on your friend's development. I wrote that guide specifically for cases like this, so pointing him to it could be a good start. Either henchmen or other GK forces can suffice as support, though the playstyle shifts from pure firepower to maneuver warfare. This depends mostly on your preference. Reclusiarch Darius
Let me start by saying that while having played 40k for a year and a half, I don't know how 6th ed works for GK, so I'm looking for advice on getting a buddy of mine a better setup for grey knights. He loves their fluff, and recently came into a steal of deal, ending up with this: Knights are awesome in 6th edition. Along with IG and Wolves, we are the army to beat. Be aware though, we aren't quite as forgiving as those other two armies. Draigo20 paladins with random weapons Nemesis Dreadknight with all bits Hmmm...PaladinWing is fun, but I wouldn't start out with it. Try doing a Terminator blob+Terminator Inquisitor (count-as using the Draigo model). The DK needs a greatsword, teleporter doesn't have to be modelled. I'd leave off taking guns on it for now. His next additions should be some PA Knights. I'd recommend getting about 20-30 of them, to give you options. Purifiers are fantastic, but you'll want a GM to make them scoring. Strike Knights are decent. Interceptors offer a fast element than otherwise only the DK can match. Purgators can be good with quad incinerator for horde deletion. I'd then get a pair of Dreadnoughts, and model them with twin autocannons on both arms. He's going to discover the joys of the PsyDread at some point, might as well get it over with. That should be enough to get a core of 1,500pts or so going, with options to swap stuff out and change it up a little. I'd practise a lot of 1.5k, then once he has confidence move up to 1,750 or 2k.
