New Space Wolf/Ultramarines Hybrid chapter

So I have an idea for a kind of hybrid Space Wolf/Ultramarine Chapter. they will use the new 6th edition allies rules. But i kind of want to build a backstory and a proper Chapter name. I was thinking of the Lightning Pack, Sons of Russ (not affiliated with the Space Wolves geneseed project), Ultrawolves, and Cerberites (as in cerberus, the three headed dog that guards the gates of hell). Any suggestions will be appreciated.

So far the backstory of this Chapter is as follows:

This chapter was born out of the most recent Founding from Ultramarines geneseed stock. They are a somewhat Codex following chapter. But due to their close proximity to Fenris and their strong brotherhood with the Space Wolfs, the Chapter soon Changed its name to (whatever it will end up being) and now uses some tactics and units of the Space Wolves. But they still have strong ties to the Ultramarines. The chapter still has 10 Companies as dictated in the Codex, and a similar command structure. Except the reserve companies of devastators and what not are just mixes of grey hunters and battle brothers. This Chapter uses Blood Claws instead of Scouts, Wolf Scouts are the same as in Space Wolves. Grey hunters are a more elite version normal battle brothers (like Special Forces within Special Forces), because after proving themselves, the chapter's Apothecaries give them the canis helix. Chaplains remain the same. Librarians stay the same. No Fenrisian wolf packs, unless used as an upgrade for lone wolves. Lone wolves remain part of the chapter's structure and remain in the company they were a part of before their squad was killed. No bikes. Terminators are codex compliant. Wolf Guard act as sergeants for the grey hunters.

If i missed anything or you want to know more just ask. and if u can help in anyway please i can do

Almost feels like this should be in the Liber Astartes folder as a new IA, but I'll bite.

AS has been agreed upon by many DIYers and I believe confirmed by an IA volume, it is common for a cadre of one army to be handed over to train a new chapter until it isn't green anymore and can handle itself. At that point, the donated cadre chooses to stick around (and be incorporated into the chapter) or return to their own chapter.

I could see your idea playing out in this way.. atleast better than the chapter adopting SW traits simply out of proximity. However, changing a chapter's name is not a small matter, and usually occurs when the force is all but eradicated or turns traitor, etc. So to me, it doesn't seem extreme enough to change their name just because they like Russ better than Guillaume.

The shift of recruits/veterans from C:SM standards to SW standards I like. Scouts being vets are a nice transition toward adopting SW tenets. Where you lose me is when the Apothecaries start using SW geneseed. I believe this is not allowed. The Wolves, having cautiously kept their fallen brethren, the Wolf Brothers, a disputed secret, won't simply donate a stock of their geneseed for another chapter to use at their discretion. If anything, the whole Blooding initiation and screening by Rune Priests and Wolf Priests may be the only thing keeping the wulfen traits in check during implantation. Therefore, I very much doubt they would allow their geneseed out of their sight. Also, the way you have it worded, it sounds like the marines get two geneseed implantations.

The pieces that don't fit are the Wolf Guard and Lone Wolves. The only way I could see this working is if they were made pseudo-characters per your chapter's background; such as, should you use the bit I said about a SW cadre training your men, that cadre could have stayed on. Some of them remain sergeants in the capacity of WGPLs, while even fewer have chosen to go it alone in the form of Lone Wolves. It'll help enrich their own personal stories if they're the remnants of the Wolves that were sent to train your chapter. Otherwise, to me it sounds like you want all the SW core units while retaining C:SM characters/vehicle options.

I'd like to see where this goes.

Where you lose me is when the Apothecaries start using SW geneseed.

I don't see this happening either. I think a new chapter thats trained or fostered by the SWs untill its up to snuff is probably your best bet. I'm not sure why their creators would choose to have the wolves foster them though. I'd think they would try and make sure a more orthodox chapter was their mentor. Though it could be a neat back story. The SWs stepping up to foster them and the rest of the Astartes thinking "Great, more barbarian lunatics....thats just what we need"

Ok i can see where you guys are coming from on the apothecaries. Allow me to clarify this is not the full canis helix. it is a new implant that gives the advanced senses, based on the canis helix. Still very much in its infancy. The chapters are close comrades and are developing this implant together. As far as the Wolf guard and Lone Wolves are concerned: the wolf guards in this Chapter are taking the place of Honor Guard, but as all of them can not be tagging along with the chapter master, they sometimes lead some of the GHs on missions. that is about the extent of thier use in the chapter. I dont really use them in my armylists so thats where i came up with that. Lone Wolves are still the same in that if an entire squad dies and there is one survivor, he becomes a solitary warrior bent on a glorious death.
