Chaos the Octagon way.

The Octagon

Recommended Posts

Hi, It's my time to contribute to chaos.

And other warhammer miniatures too, because I feel like it :) But mostly Chaos because there will be an army eventually. I don't know which legion or renegade chapter but with your help maybe :) In the meantime I will give you some cultists

And a teaser of my dreadnought

I'm doing some clean up on the miniatures at the moment. Most of the close combat cultists are converted one way or the other. The shotgun-wielding fellow will be next. I'm going to exchange the sword for a chained one and the shotgun for an axe. A BIG one. Did I hear Mark of Khorne? :) My goal is to make an army which stands out among countless others. Hopefully my painting will improve during, and my skills with sculpting green stuff too. More info coming soon, including ideas for the army.

Those are some nice and creative Cultist conversions.Should make for a nice eye-catching unit.

I like where the Brutes' going. The DV Plas Cannon was something I was considering arming my second brute with.

Any other conversion plans for the Brute?

Rule wise the helbrute is a dreadnought with a better crazed rule than previous edition. Thunderhammer and power scourge are only viable options if you go a close combat dreadnought, but without a drop pod equivalent there is no reason to field one. Plasma cannon and missile launcher? Two blasts, both capable to reducing infantry and vechicles to molten slag. Good stuff. Should I remove the fingers on the powerfist and put a maw there with missiles as teeth? ^_^

Also, I'm going to make the army as fluff-wise as possible. By the way, anyone been using Plastic card? How useful is it? I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to do the axe on the cultist champion. The chainsword just needs glue.

It seems I will not be able to get my hands on plastic card until tuesday so for the cultist champion you just have to wait :tu: that means, I'm able to focus on the dreadnought instead :tu: the helbrute will be a weapon platform with plasma cannon and missile launcher. Other units in the codex will be better at Close combat and who does'nt want two blast markers?

My idea is to remove the powerfist arm for later use (daemon prince?) and begin constructing something akin to a missile launcher. But with a chaos twist of course :P ehat do you guys think, should I make a maw out of the barrel of plasma cannon? It's the green stuff addiction speaking :P

The theme and choice of legion or renegade chapter is hard. I got a gazillion choices in my head. All I know is that whatever I choose, there will, must and shall be a unit of 8 havocs with four autocannons. That IS the LAW! I don't want a chaotic version of the loyalist devastator version with four missile launchers. If we are allowed to have autocannons, we should use them. For good or worse.

The legions i'm thinking of are the following: Alpha legion, Black Legion, Iron warriors, Word bearers.

One of the negative aspects of the legions is that there are many others, some armys eclipsing my work a hundredfold. Also, you are kind of stuck with the fluff already written. Note however that I don't find this a problem. With the renegade chapters I'm almost free to write my own story. With some restrictions depending how famous the renegades are in GW terms of course.

The renegades are: Blood Gorgons (If I learn to sculpt barnacles and sea anemones :P), Company of Misery, Hakanor's Reavers, The Purge, Red Corsairs (Astral claws?), Knights of blood, Warriors of Aggannor (The fluff tells of a warband consisting of both Word bearers and Night lords. Yeah?) Steel Brethren Or a warband created by myself. Give me your thoughts people.

Also, from out of nowhere, I really like the Black legion daemon prince from the codex before the previous one :tu: This one shows the power of chaos that I want to show on my miniatures.

The powerfist arm is off from the Helbrute. I couldn't wait until tuesday with the cultist leader. I have done some work on the rest of the champion as well, I couldn't help myself :) The result did not come out as good as I hoped it would. Tell me what you think. For me, it's kind of meh. I 've done better. http://imageshack.us/a/img854/1427/dscn6465q.jpg

The chainsword just needs glue. The axe head is different thing. i can't decide if I should go for the double-edged axe from my old dwarfs or the trimmed down axe from the chaos warriors champion. Advice people, you decide ;)

Here's another cultist which I did a long time ago.

The finished product  What do you guys think? After this, plastic card seems like a better idea. It will be used for the Dreadnought missile launcher for sure  Using wire is difficult. Fourteen of fifteen cultists are converted one way or another. The Autogun-cultists will stay as they are.

Plastic card bought today WOOP WOOP!!! The missile launcher project will begin tomorrow and hopefully end tomorrow. Pics will be delivered. I have begun the painting on the close-combat cultists. My idea is that individually everyone have faith in one of the Chaos Gods, so some will have some green, other blue, most will have red.

The brown will be the foundation for several other colours, like yellow.

Nice models though they are, you might wanna drop the fantasy stuff, as it's not power armour related, and will get nuked by the mods! :)

Faster than the lightning did the remove it. My bad.

I love the pose of the beast-headed renegade - the axe of the shoulder is epic

The axe was ;) hard to make. I don't want to talk about it :P The only thing which did'nt go wrong was the wrap below the hand.

On a more positive note, I love the pose of the beast-headed renegade - the axe of the shoulder is epic. Looking forward to more!

I do apologise Octagon, I completely forgot about model feedback! It's not all doom and gloom ;)

I like the idea of individual dedication to gods, it'll help with painting variation. The beastman cultist is, for want of a better word, a beast!

The Missile launcher will be ready tomorrow. Something horrible was a thorn in my side today; Life... :P Meanwhile, an idea. Beastmen in PA Think of this, Beasts, Khorne, Dual Plasma, big axes. What's not to love? However, I don't know if I should do it or not. Just a thought. Haven't made up my mind with the theme of the army yet. Frustrating as Matt Wards Fan fiction (Oh yes I did :tu: Nothing against Ward-lovers out there). You guys decide if I should keep the ML normal or if I should go berzerk with the green stuff. Like a maw or something. Give me your hearts desires -_-

Next update tomorrow.

Note! My choices have decreased.

Black Legion, Iron warriors, Word bearers, The Emperor's children, Death guard, Blood Gorgons Company of Misery, Hakanor's Reavers, The Purge, Red Corsairs, The Sanctified, Knights of blood,A warband created by myself or a mix.

Indeed he is :) Thank you all for the positive feedback.

The Helbrute is nigh complete. Some cleaning up to do, but are good to go. A lot easier than the axe handle :P First time with Plastic cards too.

Side. The eye was made following This Tutorial.

It's not finished. I just need to get a wire to connect the ML with the body and green stuff it.

Full body shot

For 120 points it will be a solid choice for any 500pts game.

Don't have anything more to say for the moment. Next update will be of more painted cultists. I guess, Don't know, we'll see

That is an incredible Helbrute, probably the best conversionb of that model i've seen! ;)

Was thinking of doing something similar but using spare parts for the weapons rather than plasticard. I doubt my efforts will match up to yours though.

I'm surprised there haven't seen so many conversions, although some I've seen are incredible. My efforts are more of a oblong of plastic card than an actual ML
