L30n1d4s
Anyone tried Mordrak/Ghost Knights in conjunction with SM allies in Drop Pods? Basically, his "First to the Fray" ability and the DPs ability to come in safely on turn 1 could make for a pretty decent Alpha Strike, IMHO. Here is an example of what I am looking at: GK (1265) HQ (200) -Mordrak (200) TR (520) -GKSS with 2PC, Rhino (260) -GKSS with 2PC, Rhino (260) HS (545) -DK with GS, PT (230) -DK with GS, PT (230) *Aegis Defense Line with Icarus LC (85) SM Allies (735) HQ -Libby with Null Zone, GoI (100) EL -10 SG with DP, 10 Combi-meltas (335) TR -5 Scouts with 3 Sniper, Cloaks, ML, Tellion (150) FA -Stom Talon with TL-LC (150) Scouts/Tellion stay in ADL near Objective, get 2+ cover save (ADL + cloaks + Stealth) and have Telion man Icarus LC for almost guaranteed hits. First Turn Libby/SG drop in with Drop Pod next to Mordrak and both Dreadknights shunt out to link up with them, providing enemy with multiple CC threats and some potent shooting (i.e. Sternguard). GKSS move around in mid-field to sieze objective and provide fire support. Storm Talon comes out of Reserve to provide Fire Support and anti-air, as needed. Mordrak uses GS to make DKs scoring or give GKSS Scout, as required. Mordrak also uses Psychic Communion to get Storm Talon out of reserve on turn 2. Libby makes everything's Invul saves go down (Null Zone) and also allows SG to "bounce" around after Turn 1, using Gates of Infinity, as required. Gentlemanloser
You could also consider Deathwing, for thier first turn teleport. Not as safe as a drop pod, but it does open the possibliity of using Teleport Homers. For a while I've been sondiering using either Logan or Belial as a 'counts as' Mordrak and using either Wolf Guard in TDA or Deathwing as his 'Ghost Knight' Grey Knight retinue. Wolfguard come quite close (and they're cheap!), with Strom Bolter and Power Weapon. Either Power Sword for Nemesis Force Sword GKT, or Power Axes for Nemesis Halberd GKT. I might have to go check the GK FAQ now to see if Skulls and Mystics were FAQed to only work with GK units. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265086-mordrak-drop-pod-allies/#findComment-3230233 Share on other sites
jeffersonian000
If you build a drop pod army and ally in Mordrak with his Ghosts and a couple squads on GKT, you can legaly reserve you entire army with more than half arriving on turn 1, with the remaining bulk arriving on turn 2. Not too shabby. SJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265086-mordrak-drop-pod-allies/#findComment-3230435 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Sadly that's not posible, as the TDA units don't have to start in reserve, so still count. ^_^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265086-mordrak-drop-pod-allies/#findComment-3230452 Share on other sites
