Emperor's Furor
Hi folks, relatively new just thought I'd get some opinions on my upcoming Raven Guard army. At the moment I've converted a 5 man recon squad, it's made up of 5 power armoured marines (3 MkIV, 1 MkV, 1 MkVI) with camoeline cloaks and sniper rifles. However I'm trying to picture what my army will be like as I plan ahead and I'm having trouble trying to get a grasp of what I should include. At first I was going to go with Angel's Wrath rite of war, but then realised everything had to be airborne and it kind of turned me off it. Then I had the idea of having recon squads in rhinos along with veteran squads in rhinos, using the outflank maneuver, while two squads of assault marines either deep strike or just make their way across the board to act as some bait. Then I thought maybe outriders would be better at acting as the bait due to their toughness. However are bikes Raven Guard like? It got me thinking my tactics were more like White Scars. Would Raven Guard make use of non transported Dreadnoughts as well? Anyway you see I'm a little confused and keep second guessing myself, so was hoping you'd help me clarify my plan and theme. caprera
Orbital Assault and Angel's Wrath are both good for Corax's Legion. When the next book comes out, I think the Raven Guard will have a little bit of special deployment rules that replace one of those to better represent their extensive use of explorers in advance to the main strike force. So you might be wanting to wait a little more... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265151-raven-guard-hh-army/#findComment-3230994 Share on other sites
Emperor's Furor
Hmm yeah, if I want to continue building the army now though, would getting assault troops be the best place to start since I think it's guranteed Raven Guard will have them. Olis
I'd say, if you are going for an army with a RG feel, assault troops are the way to go. Bikes too, imho.
