GodEmperorOfMankind
Well guys, this is how I see my full force of Iron Warriors when I've finished getting everything, comments/criticism welcome, as well as Ideas on how to play, as I've gone for what I want not what'd make a good list. 10man tact squad - 200 powerfist rhino 10man tact squad - 200 chainswords + pistols powerfist rhino 10man Breacher squad - 265 melta x2 power weapon 10man support squad - 220 rhino combi weapon 10man support squad - 275 rhino plasma pistol Volkite calivers 2 rapier laser destroyers - 110 2 contemptors 400 assault cannon and heavy flamer 9man Destroyer squad 300 Rhino phosphex bombs ML power weapon Praetor 160 Paragon Blade Iron Halo Artificer armour 5man Command squad 250 rhino combat shields Power weapons Centurion Moritat 115 Plasma pistol Artificer Armour Combat shield 10man heavy support squad 320 Autocannons Rhino Artillery squadron 225 3 whirlwinds Fellblade 540 Marine Crew 3580 The heavy support Rhino is for the breacher squad, my thinking that the breachers deploy near the heavy's, first turn they load up and ship out. This is because they can only take a LR as transport (though I am toying with that idea as well) Praetor and command squad join the breachers in attacking the front line, followed up with tacts with CCW, support squads do just that, support and objective grab, along with other tact squad. Also thinking maybe ML instead of autocannons, but I do love the thought of 10man autocannons :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/ Share on other sites
Nehekhare
Also thinking maybe ML instead of autocannons, but I do love the thought of 10man autocannons :D you still have a HS slot left, flakk havocs behind an aegis with a siege breaker (THE IW consul imo) manning the icarus lascannon are nasty against armor of any kind. Other than that, I recommend vexillae on any squad, since nobody is fearless or has ATSKNF. techmarine covenants with conversion beamers are fluffy, hard-hitting and cost not many pts. Fo artillery, think about medusae: S10 ap2 barrage sniping! GodEmperorOfMankind
Forgot to mention the WW will be the hyperious kind, so plenty of AA :) Also the reason for the WW and not medusae is because I already have them, though it's tempting to get some more. I think though I'll wait until the next book comes out before I make any other purchaes (apart from the fellblade that is) I was thinking Techmarines, but not sure where they'd sit, maybe with the rapiers? Nehekhare
I'm afraid they would sit with automata only, since they're not independent characters. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3231816 Share on other sites
caprera
I really like your list, it feels much like a common choice for Iron Warriors. One thing, about the Hyperios: wouldn't be MLs in Heavy support squads with Flak a better choice ? GodEmperorOfMankind
Tell me why they would be a better choice? They're included because I already have the models, and I like tanks :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3233002 Share on other sites
caprera
Why ? MOAR MISSILES :) As I understand it, Hyperios is really cheap but it's one shot only, and looks underpowered. A "Heavy 2" profile would have been more appropriate for a dedicated AA vehicle. Nehekhare
sucks they have to exchange their vengeance/castellan against hyperios, they're basically worthless if the enemy has no/only 1 flier. caprera
That's true as well. It would have been better to upgrade a Whirlwind with additional ammunitions.... GodEmperorOfMankind
Ahh but the hyperious has both the skyfire and interceptor rules: Skyfire A model with this special rule, or that is firing a weapon with this special rule, fires using its normal Ballistic Skill when shooting at Flyers, Flying Monstrous Creatures and Skimmers. Unless it also has the Interceptor special rule, it can only fire snap shots against other targets Interceptor If a weapon has both the Interceptor and Skyfire special rules, it uses its full Ballistic Skill against all targets Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3233235 Share on other sites
caprera
Well yes, but giving Flakk missiles to the Heavy support teams you would only miss the interceptor rule that gives you the ability to shoot for no drawback since you retain the other ammo Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3233319 Share on other sites
Nehekhare
a whirlwind with hyperios agains a ground target ist just a krak missle :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3233473 Share on other sites
GodEmperorOfMankind
Yeah but they are tanks, and I already have them. GodEmperorOfMankind
Oh fully appreciated, I do want some ML heavy support at some point, just already have the tanks  was thinking of the ML kneeling legs for all 10 legionnaires, that'd look quite cool, but think I'd still want mk3 torso's. then gotta decide on heads and backpacks! Nehekhare
maxmini sells a medusa-like big gun, it would be easy to convert a whirlwind to be interchangeable. they even come with parts to fit a basilisk. caprera
but think I'd still want mk3 torso's. then gotta decide on heads and backpacks! I think the majority of the armour types has to be decided by the time setting. When I put in line the Raven Guard I decided to go for the second part of the Heresy so Corvus armour could be chosen as the newly acquired. My Ultramarines will instead be mostly a after-crusade army and so the majority will be MKIII. I could put in a good number of MK4 but I don't like it that much and by now it's hackneyed... Not at the moment they don't, I was going to build a Typhon using it and a spare LR I have, but it's out of production until next year My Ultramarines will instead be mostly a after-crusade army and so the majority will be MKIII. I could put in a good number of MK4 but I don't like it that much and by now it's hackneyed... mk3 armour was only used for specialist actions, boarding, zone mortalis etc and led to TDA, it'd be mk2 mainly, mk3 for specialist units, then mk4. Of course saying that my Iron warriors will be mainly mk3, but then they're siege breakers -_- Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3234112 Share on other sites

Nehekhare
Not at the moment they don't, just ordered one, maybe you confuse it with the big momma cannon from puppetswar? http://www.shop.battlefield-berlin.de/inde...mplete_set.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3234451 Share on other sites
GodEmperorOfMankind
Apologies, you're correct, it was the big momma cannon I was thinking of. With regards to the medusa cannon, at 35 euros plus shipping, I'd rather spend the extra couple of quid and get a complete medusa kit for 40. But that's just me, I do look forward to seeing your conversion though! And caprera, no need to feel like a noob, they're your models, have them as you like, you can always make up some fluff to say why they're all mk3 suits Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3234872 Share on other sites
caprera
I know but I don't like it. I'm always happy to follow the fluff and that's where I start to like an army. I am very fluff driven :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265161-iron-warriors-army/#findComment-3234884 Share on other sites
