Space Wolves Battleforce

Hi All

 

I'm currently looking at picking up a couple of Battleforce boxes and wondered if it comes with enough parts to make 20 Grey Hunters or would I have to scour ebay and bitz sites for the arms, helmets ect?

It contains two full Space Wolves kits (plus a Scout kit and a Drop Pod), which is enough to make 20 Grey Hunters with bits to spare :P

You can make all Grey Hunters if you want. In fact I asked exactly the same question when I joined (tip: search function is your friend :P ) The description on GW site doesn't help with this. I'm doing a variety of long fangs, rune priest and grey hunters but if that's what you want to do it's completely viable.

Yeah, I had the same question when I started out. The Space Wolves battleforce is just a drop pod kit, a scout kit, and 2 Space Wolves Pack kits put together. Whether those Space Wolf packs are assembled as Blood Claws (Not recommended outside of very, very casual lists), Grey Hunters (Most likely), Wolf Guard (If you're going mechanized, I highly recommend going 9 Grey Hunters + Wolf Guard Pack leader. Loganwing (Using Logan Grimnar's The High King Ability to make Wolf Guard troops, and thus fielding lots of them) is not a good idea, though), or Long Fangs (If you can find the missile Launchers, although generally speaking, you have enough wolfy bits left over to spruce up a pack of Long fangs or two*). Couple of things to remember when assembling the battleforce, though;

 

1) The Space Wolves box has its own set of special Wolf Scout heads. These don't fit well on normal space wolves. However, these and maybe a wolf tail talisman or two are all you really need to make the wolf scouts in the box look suitable as Space Wolves. Wolf Scouts these days are pretty bare bones apart from a meltagun, though.

2) The Space Wolves box is overflowing with plasma pistols (6 of them) and has 2 plasma guns in it, but if you want meltaguns for the drop pod squad, or flamers for overwatch purposes on an objective squatting squad, you'll need to find them elsewhere.

 

 

 

*Here's a tip I've found helpful- If you mix and match vanilla marines parts from the devastators box in with your Grey Hunters, you get your Long Fangs Squad looking much more wolfy, and no one will really notice if you used the legs from a Devestator box (apart from the crouching ones, but those are obviously for missile launchers anyway). Heads are never a problem, though.
