Horus Heresy Tactia: Legion Veteran Tactical Squad Tactics

Reasonable assessments, brother. I do, however feel like something is missing - where you have the wargear options laid out and the verdicts next to each, I would like to see a little more than several words on the option represented. Preferably I'd like to hear why you would or would not choose such-and-such an item or option, and what would be a better (with reasoning for that, too), or why the item is the best option of the bunch. Essentially the format of the latter paragraphs in your review should be applied to the options list.

I would also like to see an in-depth assessment on the unit's stats and what effects it could pose on the battlefield. What sort of role should the unit play with the statline it has? What isn't it suited for? What unit(s) should it be paired with? Incidentally, I disagree with your conclusion that the veterans should be kept as a shooty unit. In short, I feel the unit should be given just enough to handle itself in melee (they start with 2 attacks in their profile and a bolt pistol and chainsword in their inventory) and be used as a close support for whatever hammer unit you have available nearby.

@Olisredan

Thanks for the feedback. To begin with, I don't want to go overly in depth with the wargear options as that would make the post close to 3 or more printed pages. Also, it largely based on my personal prefaces and experience with the game. I also shy away from going deep with stat lines and things as I feel that would give everything worth of value away, and there would be little to no reason for people to then buy the book.

As for my preface for making the unit a shooty unit, I play Space Wolves. Grey Hunters and Wolf Guard are tooled similarly. I'll admit they do well with shooting and assaulting, but because of my Counter-Attack rule I worry little about whether I'm charging or being charged. The Legion Veteran Squad doesn't have that luxury. They will survive most units but it will be close. I want to also point out that my Option 2 build is geared a bit more to close combat. Again, the way I see this unit being used best is not a Death Star unit that goes after other Elites or HQ choices, but to go ahead of one of your Troop choices and soften up an objective. Though I will also agree with your assessment of going in front of your "hammer" unit.
