Demus Ragnok
8th company Sons of Creightos, what thinks the Liber. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265220-paint-scheme/ Share on other sites
Wulfebane
I like the pallette, but the grey pad throws it off. Is it important? What will the field be used for? Is the orange color metallic or matte? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265220-paint-scheme/#findComment-3231758 Share on other sites
Messor
I echo Wulfebane, if the gray is meant to be for distinguishing a company, I have no issue with it, but if you plan to build and paint this army, I recommend assigning one company the color black, and modeling them for your army, so there won't be any detachment of scheme in your tabletop game. That's probably why I've never seen an ultramarines 7th company(I think it is), purple just doesn't look great on them, no matter how fluffy it is. Ace Debonair
8th company Sons of Creightos, what thinks the Liber. *Puts on Liber Heraldry Dept. Hat* The eagle on the chest could do with being a different colour, I think. The bronze and red are used just enough that there isn't a stand-out piece on the scheme. Maybe gold or silver? I'm also not really sold on the soft armour being the same basic black as the main armour. (And before anyone starts, common sense and whether or not soft armour only comes in basic black do not figure into this, because I'm just stating my opinion on the choice of colours. So there. :P ) As an alternative, I'd go with either grey soft armour, or maybe dark red. And lastly, an entirely personal preference. I'm not a fan of schemes which paint the crotch a different colour from the torso. Moreso when the soft armour is the same colour as the torso. It just looks weird to me. So, all that said, I'll throw these at you. EDIT: And my work here is done. Leave the Liber clean and tidy, save bandwidth and all that. Now my tastes and yours might be completely different, so feel very free to ignore my ramblings (and alternative colours) if you prefer. This is just one occasoinally deluded Liberite's opinion, after all. ^_^ EDIT: Damn all typos. Damn them and burn them. Wulfebane
I like the red soft armor. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265220-paint-scheme/#findComment-3231992 Share on other sites
Demus Ragnok
The grey pad is codex company identifier. Heres a revision, this time from 5th Co. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265220-paint-scheme/#findComment-3232491 Share on other sites
Wulfebane
Now I miss the red tubing. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265220-paint-scheme/#findComment-3232499 Share on other sites
Arkangilos
And lastly, an entirely personal preference. I'm not a fan of schemes which paint the crotch a different colour from the torso. Moreso when the soft armour is the same colour as the torso. It just looks weird to me. EDIT: Damn all typos. Damn them and burn them. That is what it is Ace! I saw something, and I was like, "This isn't a bad scheme, but there is just something... off about it." Thats what it was. On that note, I like your scheme Demus, but I agree with Wulfebane now, the torso pipes need to be red too. And here is the one place I will disagree with Ace on, I actually think the Aquilla was fine in your original color. Sorry Ace :'( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265220-paint-scheme/#findComment-3232718 Share on other sites
Messor
Yeah, the red tubing is nice, and I think the 5th company would look much more 'whole' on the table. I think I'm in the opposite camp of Ace and Telanicus, where I'm not a big into having a different crotch color protruding into the lower half of the model, but likewise, that's just personal preference, and I don't think it looks bad at all. Ace Debonair
Urk, I forgot the grey shoulder pad. D'oh! :) Never mind, I've canned those pics now, since their job is done. ^_^ That is what it is Ace! I saw something, and I was like, "This isn't a bad scheme, but there is just something... off about it." Thats what it was. I spend way too much time messing with colour ideas. :P And here is the one place I will disagree with Ace on, I actually think the Aquilla was fine in your original color. It was alright in bronze, for sure. But the scheme was misssing a sort of visual focus point - something that stood out. It's personal preference again, really, and bronze would also work fine if Demus preferred it that way. ^_^ Yeah, the red tubing is nice, and I think the 5th company would look much more 'whole' on the table. I think I'm in the opposite camp of Ace and Telanicus, where I'm not a big into having a different crotch color protruding into the lower half of the model, but likewise, that's just personal preference, and I don't think it looks bad at all. No, I totally get that. Most of my schemes have the torso, crotch and upper legs in the same colour. I'm a fussy sod sometimes! :P If the torso and upper legs have to be different, generally the crotch winds up in the darker of the two colours, because nobody should be making that a target. ;) Again, this is all just one possibly deluded guy's opinion on what looks good on a mini, and there always remains the fact that the best colourscheme is always the one you're happiest with, regardless of what someone on the 'net says. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265220-paint-scheme/#findComment-3233192 Share on other sites
