Female Captain on a bike

Well as the title says: Biker Captain for my DIY Space Marine chapter. I would really appreciate any feedback on this model, since I have worked long and hard on it!

I did originally post this same model in a WIP thread, but it became far too picture heavy and complex to keep it going, so instead I'll just show you the finished thing.

Thanks for looking, stay frosty! :D

Nice paintjob, some crisp white there.

I'm gonna say it, everyone's thinking it, female marines, here we go again,,,

Nope, lol just you.

Love the bubblegum lipstick. The hair could be highlighted better so as to differentiate it from the dark armor better, but I like it.

Nice job.

Cheers for the comments guys :)

I think I've finally got painting the white colour down (which is good because it's the main colour of my chapter)!

The metals do look quite thick, but then in real-life it doesn't look half as bad as in these photos (I think) I'm also still learning with every model I paint, so hopefully it's something I can improve on as I go. :)

As for the hair highlights, I did have more as a matter of fact, but it actually looked quite bad (due more to my lack of skill, I'm sure). As a result I removed them, so there is still a really subtle highlight. Again it is something the camera found hard to pick up; the hair also has a slight blue tint to it, but that is also something you cannot clearly see in the picture.

I might go back and re-attempt the hair if I can find a good method of doing so...

Thanks again for the feedback!

Good job on getting both a female marine and a black and white marine on a black and white bike in the same model... The storm begins...

Nice catch, would have never noticed that :)

I'm sorry to admit that this one has gone over my head... :)

If you mean the Female Marine part, thats because its impossible to have a Female Marine according to lore, something about the genetics only working with males IIRC. I'm not sure about the bike's colour scheme.

As much of a lore fanatic that I am, I have to concede that this is a very well-done model (certainly better than mine thus far).

I meant the black and white bike part. I'm already aware of the controversy around female space marines

Thanks for the comment! It's good to know people like it, after I spent so long on it lol!

A long-standing "joke" has been the black and white Space Marine on a white and black bike (or maybe I reversed the colors).

Don't ask my why it's funny (because I don't know).

It's not particularly amusing, actually, which may be part of the humor. To expand a bit on the joke itself, it is an incredibly long and repetitive story about how the black and white space marine on the white and black bike is on a quest to save a princess. Whenever the biker is mentioned in the story (and as the protagonist this is very often) the full title of 'black and white space marine on the white and black bike' is used. It goes on for a long while, and then after reading through the entire thing expecting a punch line, you find that there is no actual punch line.

TL;DR, it is much ado about nothing.

Well... That does make some sense now, so I appreciate the explanation!

Guilty! But, when I actually clicked the link I was pleasently surprised. No ginormous badly executed GS boobs! Imo the best femmarine I've seen so far.

High praise indeed; cheers!

One of the key aims I set myself in making this model was to make something feasable to the 40k universe!

This is how Female Space marines should be done. Astartes warriors who kick ass, take names for the Emprah like any of the rest of 'em, but just happen to be female; rather than Boobmarines in Powerkinis. Bravo.

I'm curious, do I recognize the Captain's head as being from the same DnD mini as Kenton Kilgore's Khanadar Madu?

I believe his figure uses the Reaper Mini's "Amazon" whereas mine is from a Pathfinder Rogue (I forget the specific name...)

I picked it mainly based on pose; since my original plan was for something a bit different, involving dynamic poses and such. The model would have ended up too fragile, however.

Very impressed! I have been on a break from my marines for a few years (instead building and playing my Skaven Counts-As-Tyranids), but I am planning to return to my Marines either using the Horus Heresy Forgeworld Codex, or more likely the Dark Angel codex when revised.

When that happens, Commander Sasha herself will definitely be re-built, as her previous model is now showing how inexperienced I was when I built and painted her! Isolde is perfectly timed to help me pay attention to what works and what I got wrong!

As mentioned above, the decision to use a standard Astartes model with a female head is a good one; I originally used Warmachine's Commander Sorscha, and she was a bit skinny! I got her positioned nicely however, on a modified Chaos Marine bike, by using an angle grinder between the legs (ouch), which nicely melted her coat and re-shaped it to flow over the saddle!

I was proud of the fluff and modelling of my marines at the time, and although a few years' experience have improved my modelling and painting immensely, I will certainly be returning to my fluff with only some minor tweaks. Canon or not, I like female Marines, and am sticking with them, and I'm glad to see someone else actively doing so too.

Any others? (My Techmarine is called Kaylee!)

Shiny! ;)

I'm one who doesn't mind FeMarines (after all an explanation could be that they're from an alternative Universe where the Imperium is ruled by an Empress and thereby no Geneseed compatibility problems ;) ) and I like the model :)
