Pre Heresy Kharn Conversion

Recommended Posts

I could have sworn I posted a WIP topic somewhere but can't remember where and can't find it. In any case, Pre Heresy Khârn is done. I did this on commission for someone so I don't have him with me anymore; hopefully these few pics will suffice. I built him using a Khorne Berserker kit. The jump pack marine's armour isn't exactly period appropriate but at least I made sure the jump pack was. The smoke was sculpted using Super Sculpey Firm polymer clay in case anyone was wondering. Any questions, feel free to ask. In addition to the pictures, check out the YouTube video for a real-time view of this conversion project.

I'm not sure what's supposed to be happening in this scene. Whatever it is, it's neat. I think his axe looks very silly, though.

The guy who commissioned him didn't want a standard axe so I had to design something different. I personally would have given him a standard chain axe. The axe I made for him creates a 'K' for Khârn. I was going to scrap it early on but it grew on me. Sorry you don't like it.

Great googly moogly. That's awesome! Not sure what the chain is for though...

It is hard to get a clear idea of this scene with pics so feel free to watch the video on YouTube but basically, Khârn is overseeing the raising of a World Eaters Banner on the top of some mountain terrain. It is supposed to be a moment of triumph. The jump pack marine is pulling the flag erect with the chain. The buyer has the liberty of moving the jump marine closer to the flag pole so the jump marine can be seen as holding the flag pole rather than hoisting it with the chain if he prefers that pose or the jump marine can be taken out of the picture all together.

The Khârn conversion is amazing :) !!! How long did it take to model and detail Khârn?

Unfortunately, however, I have to agree with incarnus in saying that Im not a huge fan of the 'K' axe.

I worked on this conversion off and on in my spare time over a couple of months so its impossible to say exactly how many hours went into just Khârn alone. Glad you like Khârn. Unfortunate about the chain axe I guess.

I think the large axe would look better if it didn't have the motor at the biting point of the axe. It would reduce the height of the axe head a bit and give you a nice striking point. At the moment it looks like anything Khârn struck dead on with it would be saved by being able to deflect the motor?

Fair point.

fantastic sculpting and conversion work!

i gotta jump on the axe haters bandwagon though, it looks like he took it of a very mad mekboy.

i'm just not feeling the scene you created. to me it looks like Khârn and the other guy are about to fight each other (which i realise might happen any moment, cuz they're world eaters :P )

just my two flayed skulls though

Sorry if you came here recently and found that the images were gone. I rearranged my photobucket albums without thinking that it would invalidate all my image codes for threads like this - not the first time I've done that. It's sorted now though.

Gorgeous conversion. The sense of motion is incredible, and I'm a huge fan of the axe, in spite of the motor placement. The way I see it, Khârn knows what he's doing well enough that if you're hit by that thing, you get the teeth. That, and I'm a sucker for "hack and slash" conversions (not using greenstuff), so that weapon makes me smile. Keep it up, and I hope to see an equally epic Space Wolf conversion out of you sometime!

Thanks a bunch. It means a lot to know that people appreciate my work. I think you are probably only the second or third person who likes the axe so its good to hear your view of it.
