Cleal Baros
Ave dominus nox brothers! Having had a small break from 40k over the summer because of work commitments and getting into flames of war I've decided to take the plunge and build a new army for the new edition. Having spent some time refining a list in the chaos section I've finally got my first 1850 points sorted and am hoping having that a log will help me get my arse in gear when it comes to the modelling and painting. So here's the obligatory 'I just bought a stupid amount of stuff that's now serving to put me off because of the time it will take to put together' picture and the results of my first couple of hours back on the glue. http://imageshack.us/a/img834/1013/photojvzb.jpg Comparison Shot http://imageshack.us/a/img39/9780/photocopy4.jpg Comparison Shot http://imageshack.us/a/img842/8343/photocopy5.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img198/2285/photocopyy.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img838/7800/photocopy2s.jpg First Claw (minus 3) http://imageshack.us/a/img560/8944/photocopy3j.jpg Hopefully get a few more hours tomorrow to finish off the first squad, green stuff their arses on and mess around with a few more ideas. All C&C much appreciated. Regards, Cleal Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265347-night-lords-7th-company/ Share on other sites
Brother_Iron
I like what I see. Are you planning to do the chaos warrior/space marine thing for all the squads or just the chosen? Cleal Baros
All of the squads, I started last week and promised myself I'd keep the army simple/basic but then looking at my other GW stuff and reading the ADB books forced me to shift to something more elite/cool looking. I never seem to be able to keep anything simple or cheap. Crl1981
Holy easy truescale!!! I haven't seen this done before so what did you do? It looks like you just cut the chaos warriors at the waist and placed the space marines torsos on top, is this truly all that it requires? Brother Ambroz
They're very nice. Only thing I don't like is how all the legs are doing the same thing, just a bit static. Cleal Baros
Thanks for the comments guys. I really cant take any credit for the idea Crl1981, it all goes to Doghouse. I know what you mean Tanith, I might try messing around with the legs once I've built a few more. Just trying to get a bit of greenstuff on them now to fix the boots and fill the gap the conversion leaves in the back, then it's a matter of waiting for forgeworld parts and trying to work out how I'm going to build some bikers. Also on the case of the mold lines that look so much worse in the photographs than in real life. Cleal Baros
Results of my first attempts at greenstuffing the boots, I've taken the lazy option I'm afraid but I'm not great with the stuff and the risk of clown shoes was too big. Don't mind how it's turned out, simple as it is. Guess the real test will be how it looks once they're base coated. http://imageshack.us/a/img38/9780/photocopy4.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img825/793/photocopy5s.jpg This shot also has the stand in Lord I built last week before he swapped his jump pack for a bike. Don't know whether he's getting a chop and stick treatment yet or whether he's going to stay how he is for later use. http://imageshack.us/a/img703/9976/photocopy3l.jpg Couple more shots of him... http://imageshack.us/a/img211/7154/photocopy2b.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img197/884/photocopyg.jpg Cheers, Cleal. Wicced
nice looking guys brother, even with me not being a fan of truescale... my only nitpick would be the topknots not flowing in the same direction as the chain or hair decorations on chainsword- or boltergrips. Cleal Baros
They all seem to be to me, I'd argue the only 'loose' items flowing in other directions are easily explained by the movement/momentum of the items they're attached to (the bolter's chain and the tassels on the end of chainswords). Cleal Baros
Just thought I'd use the double post to slip in a pic of the final three members of first claw. http://imageshack.us/a/img13/2406/photocopy5r.jpg Also thought it might be good to post up the list I'm building to give people an idea of where I'm at and what's to come. Cleal Baros
Just a little update now that fourth Claw are built, I'm afraid I've not been able to get my arse in gear with the green stuffing yet and I'm certain I'll probably leave it until the end and hate myself when faced with near 40 models that all need their booties dealt with... Here's 4th claw anyway: http://imageshack.us/a/img23/4356/photocopyv.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img16/3541/photoipt.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img845/9849/photocopy4h.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img38/3654/photocopy3.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img855/9343/photocopy2.jpg These guys seem a little bit more 'chaotic' than the last but tbh I like the idea of the different claws having their own distinct flavour (fits better with ADB). As always all C&C most welcome, Regards, Cleal. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265347-night-lords-7th-company/#findComment-3249691 Share on other sites
Daemon Smith
Wow, nice going so early into the project. I've always like the Chaos Warrior style marines, and these are just as good. One thing: Have you noticed that your marines have two belts? Cleal Baros
I have but I'm too lazy to do anything about it tbh. I'm sure I can scrap together some bs about it being something to do with the joints in the armour or one being armour and the other being a utility belt for ammo and equipment lol. Cleal Baros
Just a small update since I've not had much time this week to work on these guys, hopefully I'll make better progress over the holidays providing I can stay sober enough to trust myself with a modelling knife and £££ worth of plastic and resin. After thinking about it I've decided I'm going to have to do something about the duel belts, hopefully keeping the fix simple with a little green stuff work to add either a utility belt covering the issue with the aid of a few skin cloaks and ammo/supply pouches. Not all of the models need it but those that stand out too much are going to see a little bit of extra work when I get around to green stuffing all the legs. All I've really done since the last update is mess around adding a couple of extra 'Night Lord' touches to a couple of the models and started on the two raptor squads I'll now be making since I altered my list slightly. I've also spent a bit of time working on a jet bike concept I'm now fairly happy with but won't be sure until I actually build the thing (it's in the blu-tack stage atm but I'll post up some pics tonight). The plan is to eventually have all my bikers on jetbikes using modified chaos warrior legs or chaos knight legs so that they don't look stunted and out of place next to the infantry. Night Lord Extras http://imageshack.us/a/img100/9780/photocopy4.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img13/5084/photocopy3c.jpg Raptors http://imageshack.us/a/img593/1484/photocopy2ke.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img132/5754/photocopym.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img401/4959/photopkh.jpg I thought about modifying these guys but imo raptors are twisted enough to justify the difference between them and the other marines in the army and adding pre-heresy parts only blurred the distinction and took away from their different aesthetic. (Suggestions and examples will be much appreciated) That's it for now I guess, I'll add the jetbike concept soon as I can and I've just recieved an email from FW telling me my autocannons have been shipped so hopefully I'll have some bigger toys to post next week after the couple of hours work I have ahead of me dealing with mold lines. As always C&C will be most appreciated. Regards, Cleal. Olis
I like him. The placement of the spiky bits seem about right to me. Oh, and the lower half looks great too. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265347-night-lords-7th-company/#findComment-3266328 Share on other sites
