Rune Priest WIP

Hi all. Here's the beginning of my Rune Priest for my army:

He started as the Forge World Red Scorpions Librarian, and he's on his way to being wolfed out. He will the appropriate runes of warding and power added, along with some pelts. The staff is a modified part from the Grey Knights box. The head is from the current line of Space Wolves plastic. I thought it looked like a good one for a Gothi: wild hair, and mouth open as his he is banishing malificarum. Also the Mk. IV armor fits in with the other mini's I have.

Let me know what you think and please make suggestions.

More to come.

Will

Nice. That looks to be a pretty sweet model for a rune priest conversion. I may even steal it from you.

Was the head a separate piece?

Feel free to use & modify the design all you want!

As to the head, it has a nicely detailed Mk. IV helm, which I Dremel tooled out...I know, I Dremeled a Forge World kit, but Wolves need to be bare headed! At least resin is easy to work with compared to metal...

Ah, right. If I go with this I might just keep the helm then; all my space wolf characters are bare headed, so one guy with a unique looking helm will stand out pretty well.

Did you buy the whole set? What are you doing with the honour guard? Or did you go the ebay route?

I bought just the librarian from a seller on eBay. Snagged it for around $20 or so, which I felt was fair.

Now to figure out what his shoulder pads should be...suggestions anyone?

I was wondering about that too. What are rune priests supposed to have on their shoulder pads?

The right shoulder pad that came with the model looks like it could be OK. With some green stuff you could change the skull into a wolf skull?

So, slightly off-topic...

Do you guys see the eye of warding as this?

<|>

or this?

The second makes more sense to me from an illustrative point of view but from som of the descriptions Dan gave it sounds like theres more of a slash down the middle than a dot...

I've been using a version as my company markings on a recent project and have been using this:

\ /

In black with the center diamond in red- as the center of the "eye" so to speak.

Dan does describe a slash down the center, but also talks about the symbol itself taking on all kinds of iterations across cultures and carrying the same meaning- so I would run with what you like and make it your own iteration :-)

Edit: Well, I'm a failure at formatting crappy illustrations, but you can get the idea- 4 crossing lines creating a diamond.

Ah so! Yup, I've seen that symbol a place or two.
