[22.06] Kastor's Silver Tower Sigmarine as truescale SM Cap

A few months back, and I can't find the thread for the death of me, I've see a bold conversion made on this Forum. Someone bashed a Horusianesque DP out of a DP box and an Island of Blood Gryphon. I recently started playing CSM and decided to follow in their footsteps. I'm halfway through the WIP now, the only things to do are:
* shave the outer "wing muscle" off the back of the mini
* place and secure (most likely magnetize) the wings in the slots
* add and texturize GS where necessary
* since it's "mid-flight", it will be on one of the small "glider" translucent poles, on a dreadnought 60mm base
* PROFIT! biggrin.gif

Pardon my manicure blush.gif

EDIT: Since Imageshack pics are long dead, here's a more recent of the birdie, vs Sigismund

Thanks! This is really encouraging me to go on with this, thanks for the kind words! ;)

Yep, it's basically the tailed lower half of the Gryphon for legs, with Gryphon front paws for feet, head mounted on power armour DP torso, Gryphon wings, DP arms, done. No real work in progress to speak about, just a bit of cutting and then glueing together, 2h of work tops ;)

Here's another pic, from the side, wings are still unattached.

Really cool, man. Very Tzeentchian!

Thank you! I hope he will make my kSon counts-as army pwn left and right ("rich" dp version - wings, power armor, ML3, Daemon of Tzeentch, Black Mace, Sigil, Spell Familiar, about 365 pts worth of awesomesauce :)).

Thank you! Here's an update - some rags and shoulder pads (used the actual thigh pads, more nimble than the original huge and cumbersome shoulder ones)

Will make more rags out of GS, maybe a hood and generally Tzeentch him up some more :P

In the meantime, the DP got a brother made from the leftovers. Regular DP this time, but I'm pretty satisfied how the position turned out. Also no huge shoulder pads this time.

IT'S ALIIIIVEEEEE!

Only Green Stuff left now. Weeee! :D

I will have to pin it onto something. The regular translucent plastic poles are a wee bit thick at the end and also too short, even the longer ones. Ideas?

No, no, you're absolutely right. The gryphon hips are thinner than the torso width of the DP. Plus, there's also the spiky belt that adds to the disproportion. I will be GSin either more muscle there, or just some fluttering robes, to cover it up. Thanks for spotting it and glad you like what I made
Yep, exactly what I planned. This actually gives me an idea - I will put the Chaos Warrior shields on the thighs, a different one on each side. These will cover up the lack of mass there and I will not have to bother scultping that part

My Tzeentchian ideal are Ana's works (Chest of Colors - http://www.coolminiornot.com/artist/Ana?browseid=3355623), however I'm nowhere close with skill. Maybe I will have it commisioned, but then again I'd probably be unable to get over not painting it myself :)

I might hold off for some months and paint some other stuff - the "brother" DP, the Necrosphinx, get better with large scale and airbrush techniques and then give it a try. In general, a night sky / baby blue / viridian / emerald / british racing green palette is what I'd use with dabs of crimson / violet gradients and rich gold trim, brushed with pale gold Dry Compund and silver highlights.

Holy ;) . This is the single greatest conversion I have seen. It's inspired me to dig out my Daemon Prince kit and make that Verminlord conversion I've always planned.
