Red Scorpions
Cool. But is there also another way to use normal Gw figures for the heresy? Check out Gawain Veteris' thread over in the WIP forum http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=262448 If you're willing to try out some GS, you'll save $$ for sure. Evilmerlin
anvil industries is a personal favorite I did a quick calculation of the costs involve. 10 men MKIII squad with Legion specific shoulder pads and bolters = GBP66 10 men squad with with everything but heads from Anvil industries, heads from maxmini = ~GBP48 You save about GBP18. I'm kinda torn at the moment which one to go for. Anvilarium
To be honest, I much prefer the official FW Legion Models. However Anvil Industries Steam Lords would be great for characters, and their bionics and other parts are all fantastic. Dusktiger
yes, and their photos just dont show it well enough, but their resin is 'very' high quality and holds tons of detail. it also doesnt have that annoying release mold agent on it when it arrives. (assuming they wash it off themselves or use some other process) the guns i highly recommend looking at, they're one of my favorites to order. if you want them the same size as a GW bolter, buy the carbine version of whatever style you want. the rifle version's a little longer. the following are Anvil Industry minis i made; the arms, legs, and guns are their, the rest is GW: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7092/7039085103_9556c09868_n.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7261/7039085311_8c9e36c8f7_n.jpghttp://farm8.staticflickr.com/7045/6892989714_6c00f1a554_n.jpg and for anyone wanting to make a easy conversion of cataphractii armor, they do sell that style of shoulder pad in both marine and termy size armor; its called "spartan" shoulder pads in their catalogue Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265651-cheaper-alternative-to-fw-for-horus-heresy-era-models/#findComment-3238047 Share on other sites

Count the7
I used the Anvil industrys shoulder pads for my Terminators, I found(like most people have) that the Red scorpion upgrade pack mixed with standard GW marine parts fill out squads nicely.i have found anvilsteam lords a little small though i have used them to fill out spaces such as Rapier and artillery crew. though the bear heads, bionics and weapons are awsome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265651-cheaper-alternative-to-fw-for-horus-heresy-era-models/#findComment-3239335 Share on other sites

Red Scorpions
What if youre just really cheap, and use normal gw minis and just paint them your legion colors? I know its lame but since a large FW army is just out of my price range Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265651-cheaper-alternative-to-fw-for-horus-heresy-era-models/#findComment-3245827 Share on other sites
Quixus
What if youre just really cheap, and use normal gw minis and just paint them your legion colors? I know its lame but since a large FW army is just out of my price rangeNobody can stop you. The colors of your miniatures have not been relevant for at least two editions (except for Orks). Unless you use some supplemental rules, that give special rules to heresy era gear, you can use GW minis just fine, even if you paint them in teal and black (Sons of Horus) or in the colors of another pre heresy faction. Power armor is still power armor, bolters are still bolters etc. Just expect some raised eyebrows if you show up with a whole army clad in purple and gold Mk VIII power armor with a clawed wing on the shoulder pad. Quixus
Hawk Lords do not have clawed wing as their symbol like the III Legion. ;) But if it preserves the opponent's sanity, he can always pretend he is fighting Hawk Lords :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/265651-cheaper-alternative-to-fw-for-horus-heresy-era-models/#findComment-3245882 Share on other sites
