Beastmen/Cultist conversions?

I was looking at additional cultists for down the road, once I exhaust my DV ones. I would like to add in beastmen conversions, but not sure what kits that work well with in either the fantasy or 40K range. I would imagine fantasy marauders and maybe 40k catachans or cadians. If anyone has input on if those kits do mesh well with them, as well as a source for futuristic pistols that could be used (Mostly looking at additional CCW cultists) it would be appreciated.

I'm in the process of making some beastmen as IG penal legionnaires. I bought the Ungors, first as they look the most human and secondly as I figured their weapon options (handweapon and shield, spear and shield, bow and arrows) would give me plent of arms with which to make the poses I want. Having opens the box I can confirm this.

Bestigors look brutal but their poses are rather fixed.

Once I've got some put together I can post some photos if you wish (they could be used as cultists I guess if I ever went down the eight-fold path)?

As Kierdale stated, Ungors would be the best option for your run of the mill Beastmen cultist. Use their heads on some IG, tossing in their(The Ungors) arms or legs for some extra conversion bits on random cultistsand there you have it.
I think the normal beastmen would also mix in well for being cultist troops, in the end a cultist unit is a rabble of chaos worshippers, mutants and other scum gathered to take down the empire. There is lots of mutations going on in the 40k universe, and beastmen are considered abhumans, so they should fit in well in the universe.

I would indeed like to see some photos whenever you have some made, to see how well they mesh with the Guard plastics. I am thinking of, when I get around to doing mine, sticking with more low tech and feral options, so might only use Catachan bits if I go that route. I guess I might need to look towards a fantasy board to see if they have any ideas how well the ungors/gors mesh with troops from that range.

Yea, that's pretty much what I was thinking. Either they started out as abhumans to being with, or mutated from baseline humans. Would add some variety to Imperial based cultists.

Here's a shot of some of my WIP Ungor penal legionnaires...or Chaos Cultists if I ever turn in the future B)

The Ungor kit is very nice. Lots of arm options and some really mean looking heads.

Those do look really good. I managed to score a blister of grot weapons from eBay, and I think once the black friday sales hit, I am going to pick up a couple of boxes of beastmen. I am leaning more towards gors though, to give a contrast to my normal sized human cultists and to use as parts for my marines.
