Yogi
Hahaha god damn Straya. This is the country where if you have a pool at your house you must have a safety fence around it, even if you don't have kids. The Colossus
Well, as far as I'm aware, and bear in mind, I've only done physics to As level in the uk (I don't know what the equivalent qualification is elsewhere), you'd be hard pressed to find magnets with a flux of 50. Most are a lot lower. Please don't quote me on this, but I don't think you'll be too affected. DasPanzerIstUber
Well lots of thoughts swirling around in my head right now...some good, some bad. :/ Apparently being a science graduate and industrial chemist spending my working days surrounded by dangerous chemicals is fine, yet I am forbidden from using magnets on my little army mans. Admittedly I don't have intimate knowledge of this law so maybe I'm only seeing the worst in it but it seems incredibly silly. So many other problems could have been given attention but they put this one on the top of the list. Grimdarkness
Have we learned nothing from those "really" warning label stories. Urauloth
you'd be hard pressed to find magnets with a flux of 50. Most are a lot lower. You're right. I shot an email to back to base-ix about their magnet sales and they've confirmed this too, their store is unaffected by this and since they're in Australia, you should all be fine. pueriexdeus
This is the reply I received from my magnet supplier on the subject; Daniel, We do not expect that law to affect our sales to Australia, as our magnets are intended for industrial, commercial or scientific applications and not as toys. Here is a clip from the Explanatory Statement that states this: This ban is intended to have a narrow focus by only banning small high powered magnets which are marketed or supplied for use as toys or for one of the other specified uses. It does not ban small high powered magnets used for industrial, commercial or scientific applications. It does not impact upon small high powered magnets which are components in household electronic goods and it does not prevent sets of small high powered magnets being used in educational institutions for teaching purposes.
