The Emperor's Shield Terminator (artwork)

Sorry mate, but the similarity between the two is just too strong for me to believe you. I could be completely mistaken, but I've spent time looking at the two side-by-side and I really can't say that they're different <_<

No need to apologize mate, I'm the one who does need to. I can see how the similarities are almost exactly the same, and it grieves me alot that even when I finished it, before I posted it here that many didn't believe me. And I'm very sorry for the outburst, as of late alot of things have been going on in life that isn't "fixable" so I just learned a valuable lesson today, more to the point not post any reconstructed art, cause of the damn similarities (damn you Alpharius and Omegon). So you are not wrong to question it, as I always say "Quesitoning authority or somebody's abilities, is what gives you a good mindset and education".

so cheers mate, and thank you all for questioning it!

Hello brothers and sisters of the B&C, long time lurker and a few poster I have never really posted anything of interest so for once I am going to post something that I had finished a while back and it is on deviant art, but I'm very proud of it. So don't judge me harshly, cause this is my first real digital drawing I have made in a long time, and most likely my last. So without further a do, here he is my Emperor's Shield!

Since he is my last real Space Marine that I will be drawing (mainly cause I have lost ideas and heart) I am glad to present him here. I may take requests, but there are no promises for it, since I'm doing a Star Craft 2 commision for someone, so enjoy C&C is always welcome

WOW, THAT'S AMAZING?! I never knew you could paint like that, considering, well, you didn't do it.

Nice signature there- reminds me a lot my own...because it is.

I'd love to see your process when painting, is it just right click and download? Here is my process when I painted "your" painting. I can also contact my commissioner who paid me to paint this for him.

or, perhaps you'd like to read about it on my blog, where I talk about my paintings?

Blog entry on this painting

Not enough? How about the Deviant Art page where you stole this from:

Scene of the crime

Listen, idiot, if you're going to try and steal someone's work, at least target someone who doesn't RECORD all of their paintings. I pity your insufferable stupidity and am going to contact a moderator about having you banned. Unfortunately, you are in the UK and don't have any personal information listed- otherwise, I'd be coming there personally to have a chat.

yse you are correct the original drawing and fine colours if from nicholas, I simply reconsturcted it. Some people think it's copying, but i really just wanted to further my skills in digital and grphic drawing. Think what you may, me and nicholas have met before on some occasions, and he showed me how he did it, so yeah this was my very first drawing mainly from his more perfect version than mine. If anybody wants the whole story then just let me know, because I'm no thief and right now my self esteem at the thought of everyone appreciating what I had finally achieved, is really low

Also, we have never met. If you'd like to, we can meet... I'm sure I can teach you a lot about how low your self esteem should be.

So you're saying you did this from scratch using his picture as a reference? Or used his as a base and worked on top of it or what? :)

So to explain I used it as a base and I worked on top of it, if you have the expert eye you can see some of the shadows aren't as "thick" or natural as his.

Then why does the picture in the first post have Nicholas Kay's signature in the bottom left corner? Seems a bit iffy to me.

Ludovic

ok so Nicholas's signature is on there, mainly cause he helped me "reconstruct" this image. I met him about a month or so ago, and I couldn't resist to ask if he could help me do something just like his image. Of course it took some convincing, but all in all he gave in. We basically used his as a template and he showed me all that he did (this was before I saw the speed painting) with his artwork. Now the deal we struck was that he keep his signature there, but that I have mine written somewhere else saying only used as template.

I simply reconsturcted it.

Ive just seen this artwork myself on Nicholas Kays website. It looks identical though, so how did you reconstruct it? Just curious...

Now basically, I first tried to draw it out myself without much success. But after I met him, he just brought up the finished work and we worked from their. What I did in the end was I drew it one last time and it came out really well, but the colours vary little since he helped me "redo" his artwork. Even though he is a god compared to me, I think it came out pretty well. But as a conclusion I would have to say, that only the colours are slightly different, not the marine or the tower.

You changed the shadows? Good one.

We met and you convinced me to help you? I don't think so. Put away the shovel and stop digging yourself into a hole.

And yes, you are a thief.

Appalling...simply appalling...I even went through the trouble of digging out the log-in info for my account to post how disgusted I am. It's a sad day in gaming when someone steals minis from a fellow battle-brother, and this is no different. T_T

For shame, sir. For shame.

I don't know if I should laugh or be truly angry about this. Its so stupid its almost as if one were to get mad at an autistic kid for not being able to perform complicated algebraic equations.

I follow Nicks work very closely and hes a really talented and giving person because He doesn't have to do the online tutorials he does, which are very detailed and informative. I haven't played with photoshop on a personal level other than manipulating Building Elevations for presentations and - he has single handedly motivated me to get back to illustration work.

The level of douche-baggery in all of this is astronomical in proportions.

Less of the lynch-mob mentality guys, it's up to Onyxius and Nicholas to resolve this, by whichever means. <_<

Olisredan here is right. I'm ashame to admit to take party in pushing this...thief. He may have more problems then we can think of, and yes I mean mentaly or otherwise. I'm truly sorry for what I have said, but that still doesn't excuse onyxius for what he did

Yes- I appreciate the support but this is now done. I have received a message with an apology and I don't suspect this activity will happen again any time soon (from anyone).

To Chapter Master Onyxius,

I accept your apology but I don't forgive your actions- they are extremely insulting and I dislike being associated with such lies. However, you are clearly aware of this, so I won't harp on it further.

What I'm most confused about is how you thought this might play out.

Although I'm far from being a "super-star" or "celebrity" artist, my work, especially the Warhammer 40,000 stuff, is fairly well circulated online. Similarly, all of my paintings have videos to accompany them, so proof is easy to come by.

Lastly, if you're actually interested in becoming an artist, this is the worst possible approach. If you did land a commission from this theft, it would become readily apparent that the work was not yours. Artistic skills do not come easily and take years, if not a lifetime, to develop.

Fortunately, your real name and identity are still safe- the only real loss here is your forum screen name, so count yourself lucky.

Regardless of all this, I wish you the best.

Nick

Class act, gentlemen. I'm glad this was dealt with maturely and with grace and civility. Good on both parties.

Sorry to point this out, but some people did say some pretty harsh words out there. Some of that maturity and civility didn't come after all by few people, just pointing that out now

Hence why I congratulated both parties, and not everybody <_<

Point being, this is over. Maybe the thread should be locked before it snowballs out of control.

Seconded. No good will come from this thread staying open.

I will third that, that is true. The deed is done, so nothing more needs to be seen.

hmmm... i thought something was off and didn't fully expect this ^.^;;; well i suppose at least everything is cleared up in the end. As is I agree with the other lads and such around here.. this will be my last post on the matter, so i suppose closing it is a good idea.
