Shoulder Pad Question

Hey, wolf brothers.

I'm building a detachment of Wolves for my Sisters and had a question.

Do the Wolves have a generic chapter emblem? I thought the black wolf head over the yellow shoulder pad was it, but it looks like that is Ragnar's emblem.

All the models in the dex, as well as all the models on the box covers have those pads. So all of the featured models on the kit boxes, and in the miniature gallery are sporting Ragnar's Great Company, or am I missing something?

Sorry if it has been asked before.

Thanks!

Up until Logan Grimnar, the only legitimate Wolf Lord character was Ragnar, so he was and is championed by GW as their showroom army, and as such, his company badge is the most prevalent.

There is no generic SW company badge. Every badge is taken as a new wolf lord's totem and they all are based around the various wolf mythos of Fenris (Thunderwolves, Blackmanes, Morkai the two-headed hound of death). Some lords merely take up the badge of their predecessor. The only badge that always stays the same is reserved for the Great Wolf's company, which the priests and dreadnoughts are counted among, and is the Wolf That Stalks the Stars, in homage to the missing Leman Russ.

All of this can be read on pages 14-17 of the codex.

I would recommend you pick the great company you like best/ feel fits best alongside your sisters. As Faithwing said, wolves have no official symbol, and if you're set far enough in the past, you can justify using a different symbol as the current wolf lords are all late 41st Millenium- Several of them only ascended during the last century or so of the timeline. If you do that, you can just design your own symbol.

Of the current great companies, the Space Wolf comprehensive is very good for information about the current Great Companies.

Alrighty, thanks guys!

I like Ragnar's badge, so I think I will go with that. I also like Ragnar's fluff, so it works out well.

I also love Krakendoom's emblem. I think I might put that on tanks and bikes.

Although it is becoming a slippery slope. What started as a simple allied detachment for my hapless Battle Sisters is becoming a full secondary army!

So I might be wolfing around here more often.
