Khorne's Eternal Hunt: World Eaters and some Traitor Guard

Thanks a lot, guys!

@ Brother Alecium: Those are Hellblades from the Bloodletters of Khorne. They work great as daemon weapons for World Eaters, and they are even in character ;) I got mine from the Bloodcrusher kit I got to build some Brazen Knights: The herald hellblade from that kit is off the charts! It's so cool I haven't yet had the courage of using it for any conversion ;)

@ Odsox: Yes, WFB chaos bitz are a must to spice up your 40k chaos army ;)

So, today I can finally show you the third Forsaken and the squad of chaos spawn as a whole.

As you may remember from the WIP pictures posted a while ago, he third model in the squad has a more crouched position, almost like a huge ape. Here’s the conversion before undercoating:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2012/11/18/432397_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Spawn.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2012/11/18/432398_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Spawn.JPG

Once again, new shoulder muscles, a Triumph Rope and some Butcher’s Nails were added. Since I was running out of suitable Crypt Horror parts at this point, the model received a Vargheist’s hirsute back, giving it an even more beastly, feral look. I also added a crude weapon fist from the WFB Ogre bulls, since I thought the weapon was a nice callback to the World Eaters’ gladiatorial traditions.

Seeing how the model had such an apelike, crouched position, I thought it would be interesting to pose it above the remains of its latest opponent/meal, so I built and painted a fitting base:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512677_sm-Base%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne.JPG

The basic construction uses the usual mix of cork, modelling sand and small pieces of slate. Between the rock outcrops where I eventually wanted to place the model, I added some bones to represent the remains of whatever unlucky creature(s) last had a run in with the Forsaken. A generous helping of Tamiya Clear Red was added to communicate the fact that this meeting had not taken place on amicable terms…

And here’s the finished model that went on top of the base:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512678_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512680_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512681_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512682_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512683_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000.JPG

This guy’s pose took ages to get right, and even then, it remained the least exciting among the members of the squad. But seeing the model now, I feel rather pleased with the result: The Forsaken looks like it’s crouched atop a rock after its latest fight/meal, turning around to face its next foe.

Even though I am usually rather hesitant when it comes to adding blood effects – since it’s very easy to go over the top with the blood – in this case, I even smeared some Clear Red on the lower half of the Forsaken’s face: Maybe this guy has indeed recently eaten (*shudder*)…

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512684_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000.JPG

And with that, my initial squad of three chaos spawn was finished! I am really happy that I managed to come up with a couple of conversions that fit the overall look and feel of my army. Plus these guys are far less “creepy crawly” than the usual chaos spawn models. Instead of ending up as quivering mountains of flesh, the Forsaken have evolved into the perfect hunters, as befits their master Khorne…

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512686_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000.JPG

I also like the fact that I have managed to come up with some fairly unique models. While the Vargheist kit is not all that flexible (and the Crypt Horrors look fairly bare bones out of the box), it offers a fantastic base for conversions, if you’re willing to experiment. It’s strange that we don’t see more conversions involving these guys…

So, what do you think about the models? C&C always welcome!

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/3/512685_sm-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Warhammer%2040%2C000.JPG

Some lovely conversions.  The shoulder greenstuffing is a bit rough, but not blatantly so.  What bugs me is the abundance of gray.  I'd advise painting some simple Khorney sigils on to the flesh in strategically sparse locations- a knee here, a pectoral there.  It could be done in red, which would break up the gray best, or you could perhaps try making it a bit more dramatic by painting them as burns, as though they've been branded.

As is, the non-red colors are so muted and dull that they don't really help break up the models shape.  I think it wouldn't take more than one more dash of red per model aimed somewhere other than the arms.

My two shekels :)

Hmmm, since the site crash ate up my last few posts, let me try to repair the damage. So, here's what was lost in the fire, so to speak msn-wink.gif

First up, here's another gladiatorial World Eater, built and painted as a playfellow for the lone gladiator that appears earlier in this thread:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/17/517857_sm-Berzerker%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Gladiator%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Etermal%20Hunt.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/17/517858_sm-Berzerker%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Gladiator%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Etermal%20Hunt.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/17/517859_sm-Berzerker%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Gladiator%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Etermal%20Hunt.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/17/517860_sm-Berzerker%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Gladiator%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Etermal%20Hunt.JPG

As you can see, I stuck to my regular recipe fairly closely, save for one important difference: A red, warpaint-like tattoo was added to the gladiator’s forehead, harking back to Angron’s own facial markings:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/17/517861_sm-Berzerker%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Gladiator%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Etermal%20Hunt.JPG

A brilliant idea that was “borrowed” from fellow World Eater Szczur22′s thread over on ToS. I think I’ll add variations of this to all the coming models in the squad.

Here are the two gladiators together:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/17/517862_sm-Berzerker%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Gladiator%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Etermal%20Hunt.JPG

And here they are, together with the Forsaken I completed earlier. I took this photo for no other reason than the fact that those guys look great together msn-wink.gif

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/17/517863_sm-Berzerker%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Chaos%20Spawn%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Forsaken.JPG

It’s fun little projects like these that will keep you interested in an army, even if you haven’t got the time (or motivation) to finish a tank or a whole squad. Sure, this guy didn’t bring me much closer to finishing the next 500 (or even 50) points for my army, but he offered me the opportunity to add some character to the force and to explore the background lore of my chosen legion — and as far as worthy hobby endeavours go, that has always been good enough for me! I also think there may be more models where those two came from — maybe each of them wielding a different set of gladiatorial weapons? And some of those models will also have to be quite dynamic, come to think of it…

To celebrate the fact that my blog, Eternal Hunt managed to attract 100,000 views, I also took some new photos of the painted part of my army. Take a look:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518400-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.jpg

Even though I may have been rather lazy since showing you the last family portrait some time ago, the army still fills me with pride (click on the following picture for a huge, zoomable version!):

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518402_sm-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.jpg

I only really painted some 15 new models since the last set of photos was taken, but at least some of them were pretty huge. The army also ends up looking rather imposing lined up like that, if I do say so myself!

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518403-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.jpg

The biggest addition to the army since we last saw it was of course the Hellrazor, my converted Heldrake:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518404-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.JPG

But I also managed to paint some more lords (a lasting addiction of mine) and fellows in terminator armour. These three gentlemen can already make up a small Termicide unit, if push comes to shove:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518405-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.jpg

And there’s an equally large collection of Chaos Lords in power armour, of course. Among them my converted Dark Apostle (shown on the left):

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518406-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.jpg

Then there’s a small collection of champions and models I painted just for fun (among them the starts of a dedicated gladiator squad). While several of those concepts may be spun off into an own squad, all of these “stragglers” together can almost make up another berzerker squad:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518407-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.jpg

And finally, there’s the beginnings of Joras Turnpelt’s small detachment of traitorous Space Wolves, to be used as regular CSM, if the battle plan so requires:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518408-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.jpg

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/19/518401-Army%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Khorne%27s%20Eternal%20Hunt.JPG

So much for the content that was lost during the crash. But I also have something new to show you. A small update that nevertheless makes me very happy msn-wink.gif

The last squad of models I built before abandoning the hobby for a while during the mid-2000s was a squad of kitbashed Possessed. Coincidentally, these models were among the first of my new World Eaters to be painted when I got back into the hobby. I use them as The Lost Brethren, those members of the 4th assault company too far gone and too mutated to be used as anything else than a Kamikaze unit.

Anyway, Almost three years ago, I built an icon bearer for the squad. Yesterday, I finally got around to painting him:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/7/524589_sm-Berserkers%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Possessed%2C%20The%20Lost%20Brethren.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/7/524588_sm-Berserkers%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Possessed%2C%20The%20Lost%20Brethren.JPG

This guy probably isn't much to write home about, since he was built when my bitzbox was still far smaller than it is today. He shares his squadmates' muscular arms (I actually used an Orc spear arm for the icon). Still, after almost a decade, not only did the squad finally receive its icon bearer, it also finally numbers eight members. Yay!

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/7/524590-Berserkers%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Possessed%2C%20The%20Lost%20Brethren.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/7/524592-Berserkers%2C%20Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Khorne%2C%20Possessed%2C%20The%20Lost%20Brethren.JPG

Like I said, nothing spectacular, but I am happy that I can finally call this squad done -- apart from the bases, though, I'll have to redo those at some point msn-wink.gif

As always, thanks for looking and stay tuned for more!

Thanks a lot, Krieghammer! :)

Today, I have an update for you that I am pretty proud of. I recently completed a model to represent Huntmaster Deracin, the 4th assault company's Warpsmith. For various reasons, I didn't use the stock warpsmith model but made my own, painstakingly converted from all kinds of plastic bitz. Here's a picture of the finished conversion, just before I started painting:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/24/520154-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/7/24/520155-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

And here is the finished model:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527011-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527012-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527013-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

As you can see, I chose a spot of turquoise for the axe’s casing. That colour appears as a spot colour across my whole army, so I used it here for some visual continuity.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527014-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527015-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

The view from the back nicely shows the light blue reactor core, and the power conduits leading away from it.

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527016-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527017-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

I am really, really happy with how Deracin turned out! He may have been just about the most involved kitbashed character I have completed so far, but the paintjob really turned out as well as I had hoped. I also like that he is quite bulky, similar to the “official” Warpsmith model — I think his imposing frame rather nicely represents the 2+ armour save granted to Warpsmiths due to their “Fleshmetal”. Let me also take this opportunity to point out that the model is almost ridiculously WYSIWYG, at least when you compare it to my usual standard: The only liberties I took with the model were using a combi-melta, chosen for its cool look, and a chainaxe instead of a power axe. Apart from that, though, the model is a very faithful representation of the Warpsmith ruleset.

Deracin is also very tall. Here’s a scale shot with both a regular World Eater and a Terminator Lord:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527023-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

And here is Deracin, next to my converted Dark Apostle:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527022-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

Even though both models use the same legs, I still think I managed to make them look remarkably different!

All in all, Deracin really looks like a World Eater. But he is also clearly an engineer and Warpsmith to his company:

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527020-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

So, did I do this just to build a semi-useful selection from the HQ section of the codex? Of course not! While it’s nice to have the option of fielding a Warpsmith now, and while I get a bit of a kick out of already having built several custom models for selections from the book, this was really all about creating a character. So who is this Huntmaster Deracin? Let’s get to know him a bit better, shall we?

http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2013/8/13/527019-Chaos%2C%20Chaos%20Lord%2C%20Chaos%20Space%20Marines%2C%20Conversion%2C%20Huntmaster%2C%20Khorne.JPG

Huntmaster Deracin, Keeper of the Forge

During the time of the Great Crusade, when the XIIth Astartes Legion was still known as the War Hounds, brother Deracin was a brilliant and ferocious warrior who could be found at the forefront of every battle. This zeal cost him dearly when he sustained horrific injuries during the Nove Shendak campaign, requiring extensive augmentic reconstruction work to be saved. Worse still than the lost limbs was the heavy nerve damage Deracin incurred, damage that necessiated complex cranial implants to keep him combat-worthy. A lesser man might have been interred into the sarcophagus of a dreadnought due to such injuries, but Deracin trained relentlessly to overcome his injuries and push the artificial parts of his body to the limit, trying to prove to his brethren that his “reconstruction” hadn’t dulled his edge one bit.

All of this should be for naught, however, once the legion had been reunited with its Primarch and renamed the “World Eaters”: Angron ordered his Apothecaries and Techmarines to outfit the whole legion with the Butcher’s Nails, implants patterned after those he had received as a gladiator on the world of Nyceria.

The nails implanted into the Primarch’s skull were artifacts from the Dark Age of Technology, and the Techmarines’ dabbling in archaeotech was far from an exact science, producing all kinds of unforeseen incidents. As a consequence, the implants Deracin had received earlier to mend his injuries interfered with the nails, preventing him from utilising his full potential on the battlefield. For Angron, a legionnaire that couldn’t unlock the nails’ full power could only be considered a failure. So Deracin found himself relegated to the rear guard in more and more battles, sidelined and tasked with petty battle logistics and mundane assignments, and growing ever more frustrated.

It was Lord Captain Lorimar who discovered that, deprived of a chance to prove himself in battle, Deracin had begun to apply himself to the maintenance of the legions’ wargear and weaponry, demonstrating a brilliant grasp of technology and an intuitive understanding of even the most complex mechanisms. So Lorimar requested Deracin for his company and let him be trained as a Techmarine. And it was then that brother Deracin found his true calling:

He may have been a brilliant fighter, but as a Techmarine, Deracin became a marvel. His brilliant, analytical mind allowed him to construct mechanisms on par with the most advanced work of the Mechanicus. His work earned him the envy of numerous Techmarines from different companies and, indeed, other Legiones Astartes. In time, even Angron himself began to display a sort of grudging respect for the son he had despised. And through fateful irony, the implants that prevented Deracin from tapping into the Butcher’s Nails’ full potential actually kept his brilliant mind intact, even as the rest of the legion descended into frenzy and insanity.

Ever since the Horus Heresy, during the millennia of the Long War, Deracin’s knowledge has grown far beyond the petty boundaries of Imperial orthodoxy: He has learned to forge flesh and steel, and to imbue his creations with the raw powers of the warp through the incantations and pacts of daemoncraft. The towering daemon engines deployed by the 4th assault company are a chilling testament to his skill. The Great Forge aboard the company’s capital ship never sleeps, and Deracin is its undisputed master. And during his long life, he has retained two features nearly unheard of among the members of the XIIth legion: A surgically analytical mind as well as a wry sense of humour.

On the battlefield, Deracin is a giant even among Astartes: His augmented frame towers above even his tallest brethren. Encased in a baroque suit of artificer armour of his own design and equipped with all kinds of arcane weapons and warp-infused tools, the Keeper of the Forge is every bit the warrior he was during the days of the Great Crusade.

So, what do you think? Was I successful in my attempt to build a worthy warpsmith? I would love to hear your feedback on this model!

As always, thanks for looking and stay tuned for more!

Stop giving me nightmares with your wicked, wicked models

(More seriously, he is probably one of my most favourite models of yours. Actually, now that I come to think of it, he probably ranks in my top 10 most favourite conversions. Excellent work, mate :tu:)

Beautiful as usual, but.. how does he fire that combi-melta? The barrels are all blocked! :D

Also, I know everyone's pretty much said so already, but I too am stealing your much-improved Heldrake design. Eventually. I'm not actually using a Heldrake until they give them a shave...

Od.

Note to self: Find out why everyone keeps misspelling Heldrake and Helbrute...

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.
That warpsmith is brutal and brilliant. I have enough lords already, I really don't need to pick up that model to convert...ph34r.png (Wallet, why are you screaming?)

I always get excited to see updates from this thread. Great fluff and the warpsmith is really cool, I was wondering where you'd gotten the legs until I saw you compare it to your DA. Didn't even notice they had the same legs until you showed them side by side.

Thanks a lot for the kind words, guys! I really appreciate it! ;)

@ Odsox: You're very welcome to steal that conversion idea, mate! No need to feel bad about it either, because I stole it myself ;)

I just noticed - with such a pail complexion, and that exact head, you have made a Khornate Borg. eek.gif

I suppose looking like a Borg is entirely appropriate for a Warpsmith. But seriously, that's all I can see now that the thought occurs. :P

Sigh...my head's full of so much nerd stuff that it's beginning to blur.

After looking through the entire thread, I congratulate you. These models are superb and awesome in there own right. I really love your Warpsmith over all though. So much character is in the model. I might have to set my Blood Guardians aside and turn into a follower of Chaos due to your models.

Again, thanks a lot, gents! Much obliged ;)

@ Firepower: Hmm, now that you mention it, there is a resemblance. Deracin doesn't look brainless enough, though ;)

@ ChaptermasterDemon7: Actually inspiring someone to create his own chaos models (or even army) would indeed be the greatest imaginable compliment, so thanks a lot!

Damn it, those crypt horror spawn look amazing. The sheer amount of fun it looks like that kit involves is going to make me buy a box to kitbash into spawn even though I'm retiring my CSM from the gaming side of things. I hope you know what you've done :p

That warpsmith is hands-down the best conversion I've seen from the plastic WHFB lord. Incredible. Is that a grey knight head? If so I applaud your heresy.

Thanks a lot, Ghost! The Vargheists are actually a pretty boring kit to assemble -- unless you go in with the aim of customising them a bit. Then they instantly become fun ;) The head does indeed come from the GK Terminators -- it was just a perfect match, heresy or no heresy ;)

A small update today:

First of all, I realised that, while I posted the new icon bearer and the group picture of that finished Possessed squads, I could also show you better pictures of the remaining models in the squad:

Granted, these may be some of my older models, but I am still rather fond of them for some reason...

Next up, we have…oh, wait, we’re just receiving an important transmission: It seems like one of our enterprising pict-drones has made it to the bowels of the 4th assault company’s great forge. Here’s the final image it managed to transmit before being destroyed:

Now what on earth could this be. Any ideas?  ;)

In any case, thanks for looking and stay tuned for more!

Cheers, guys!

Firepower's obviously in the know because he remembers the earlier WIP -- as does Paladin7221: The model appeared on this thread before a couple of posts were nuked due to the B&C database crash.

Anyway, here's another teaser to tide you over... ;)
