Garro: Sword of Truth

Have just gotten my hands on Garro: Sword of Truth and having listened to it in one sitting I have to say how majorly disappointed I was with it. From shorts such as Burden of Duty and Grey Angel, I was expecting Garro's efforts to kick into high gear and start to see some of his unfolding mission as leader of the Knights Errant.

Instead we're treated to a story set even before Legion of One. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good audio drama and it was interesting to see some of the possibilities played out, not to mention

the introduction of Varren and how he became a Knight Errant (something that was totally glossed over in Legion of One

).

All I can theorize is that the story is currently on hold due to the expanding of the Imperium Secundus arc and also the forthcoming release of Malcador's own novel.

Have at it

Having Recently listened to Sword of Truth I feel that i have to agree. It was an outstanding audio drama and this is what i hop for in terms of content and length from future HH audio only dramas. I am kind of miffed about the time of release as well. My only thoughts are that BL wanted to release it alongside Brotherhood of the Storm. Since the WS are featured in both and the two works share some of the same characters.

All in all though i loved Sword of Truth. Varren is a badass. I cant wait till we get more Garro and co.

Quick question though...the GK had how many founding Astartes? I thought it was like 7 but after Garro found Loken he said that they were finished looking for Astartes. Do you guys think we will see anymore Astartes joining up with Garro and co?

The time setting shouldn't be a surprise give the blurb and the fact Varren is on the cover... I've been waiting to listen to it to find out a bit more about how he got done over by Angron's elites.

I'm expecting The Sigillite to either be a backstory for him, or be more on his efforts in heresy, inc the Knights Errant.

I just listened to it - like it. After being initially unsure of the Garro stories - especially Legion of One (was very much against Loken returning from the grave), I've really enjoyed the recent Knights Errant stories.

There are more than 4 Knights Errant - Dorn says Garro has gathered many psykers in Burden of Duty.

Also, I've been tossing back and forth about a background and colour scheme for my nascent Chaos Marine warband - Sword of Truth solved that issue for me -

a band of traitor White Scars, mine will have gone over to Khorne. Bloodthirsty savage hunter-murders, but not frothing World Eater berserkers.

It was confirmed a long time ago by James Swallow that Sword of Truth takes place between Oath of Moment and Legion of One. And yeah, I think that it should have been released earlier, I'd prefer to listen in without knowing that Varren will survive the events and join Garro's team.

Still, I believe that Sword of Truth is the best Garro story so far. Can't wait for more Knights Errants stuff.

About the twist....

I figured out that the White Scar is a traitor the moment he talked to Garro about suspecting Emperor's Children.

Enjoyed in nevertheless.

I like the idea of traitors in loyalist legions and loyalists in traitor legions.

I don't know which dialect they were aiming for with the White Scar, but i think he sounded like a Jamaican with throat cancer.

i suspected the Scars from the beginning too, but i was waiting for them to be revealed as Alpha Legion operatives. Glad they didn't go down that road though.

Could anyone give me an answer to my question

How did the Space Marines get on board, and how many where there? Was there no mentioning of Rylanor or Tarvitz

? Have all others expect Varren been killed? This would be very sad. And is there any mentioning of the guys who went with Garro in the Eisenstein. What happened to them?

Originally the ship was at Istvaan III but escaped with a contingent of Emperor's Children and World Eaters, as they fled to Terra they picked up other ships and formed a small fleet/convoy. Amongst these were some White Scars who had for some reason I can't recall were cut off from their fleet. I think Garro asks if they know what happened to Tarvitz, I can't remember now, they didn't know though. All the Emperor's Children got killed, it was actually pretty tragic considering they were loyalist Emperor's Children and they are the closest to of made it to Terra so far. I believe the White Scars killed the remaining world eaters but Varren survived.
