Hello to the Heresy Board!

I am starting an Emperor's Children army and thus far I have put together the beginnings of a squad Sergeant. Let me know what you guys think and some pointers for improving him would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Yeah, the left side as we look at it would usually have the squad/company or some other markings, its a little to ostentatious for a sergeant atm. :)

Wait till you see the characters :)

Thanks for the input guys I shall take all of this into consideration. Does nayone think the blades should be changed to be more Emperors children esque?

Was thinking along the lines of this:

The blade doesn't really scream EC, but it's very cool, stick with that :cuss

In time, nice work on this Contemptor! Just resist the urge to over-decorate the other arm - it's nice like this, if the other arm is too much, it will be, well, too much ;)

Thanks guys I really appreciate the opinions

Dude I wish! This is actually from a forum user I think called DPA.

LOL! Sorry, didn't read the post with the needed attention :)

But anyway, the advice is the same: whatever you do, remember that this Contemptor is on the verge of being too much :)

I like the flamboyant look of the Pre-Heresy EC, but if it's overdone it can look bad - if you follow the schemes shown on the HH book from FW, they will look really nice! I'm just not so sure how to make that platinum look on the minis, without making them look like silver, or simply metal.

I like him, as a Centurion or a praetor.

Dual power falchions are a nice dandy choice.

The reason I say high ranking is that all the information we have on the EC is that embelishments increase as you go up the ranks. Also sergeants can only have 1 power weapon, if you are using the 30K rules.

From reading the series, I don't think the EC were that over the top prior to their fall.

Their biggest claim of perfection was symbolized in being allowed to use the Emperor's personal symbol. That was followed by the detail they paid to their fire and maneuver once in battle.

Now, they were a bit much out of battle with the remembrancers and such, but the I overall impression I got from their armor was the eagle cuirass, the colors, and perfected form following function. If they were post fall, go OTT as much as you want. However, before, their armor would be perfect with the emphasis being the eagle and the colors.

Are those the "small" sized etched brass eagles?

Also, the Contemptor is DaemonPrinceDargor's. He has a big heresy era blog but took down some of his pics. I'm glad you saved a copy of his contemptor, I'd been looking all over for it. Thanks!

It is a fair point. I think I may dial it back a little bit for him as a sergeant. Rule of cool with his though.. i cannot think of a use of 2 power weapons in any circumstances so hes modelled that way but I certainly woudlnt play him that way.

Thanks for the input. These guys will be used for Betrayal etc so will be starting off at Istvaan era so there will be some nods to their new found excess.

Yeah they are Forge World Brass etch. That contemptor is awesome thanks for adding his full name much appreciated. Pretty sure it convinced me to build some Emperors Children.

He would make an amazing warrior for a Palitine Blade squad. I quite like the use of the twin falchions & don't think he is ott provided he is something of an elite...

Palatine squad? I think this decides it. i need to read the FW book before finalizing any models.
