Alphas or Night Lords?!?

When the codex was rumored and weeks after its release, I was in the same situation as you are. For basicly the same reasons... And I had a few metal figurines painted in NL. With the Call of Chaos, I choose to change to AL as I didn't like NL having Chaos Undivided icons (and many GW CSM figs bears the chaos star).

 

Additionnaly, if you feel like using good units, bikers should be on your list... which suits NL so well.

 

I'm close to regretting my choice as lightings are much easier to paint than Hydra's scales. I'm a poor painter...

 

I know your EXACT feeling. I have hardly ever painted units in my life...and somehow I felt compelled to join the Call to Chaos, of which I still have not even started <_<

 

But on other news, I'm really liking Kol Saresk's idea of using a mix of about 50/50 for each Legion. That sounds fun and somewhat doable. Still having trouble with the Termie theme but that'll come later I suppose. But I'm actually considering taking dual Legions which is something that I've never done before...Still got some time to choose though :lol:

 

I guess for me it's just an OCD thing about not everyone on the tabletop matching but my personality fits both of these armies sooooo well so I might just still mix them. Although I do believe I relate to the Night Lords more, but the Alpha Legion just operates like a bunch of badasses so it's still a very rough call.

 

Anyways, here's what I'm thinking for a mixed list:

 

Huron: both Alpha/Night Lord equivalents

Khârn: Night Lord

Chaos Marines: Both

Cultists: most likely Alphas, but Night Lord "shadowkin" sound cool too

Berserkers: Night Lords

Thousand Sons: Alpha Legion (snipers)

Raptors: Night Lords

Bikers: mostly Night Lords (on juggernauts by the way ;) )

Chosen: shooty will be Alphas, melee will be Night Lords...so both

Helbrute: both

Termies: NEED HELP HERE!!! NO CLUE :lol:

Sorceror: both

Chaos Lord: Night Lords

Dark Apostle: Alphas

Possessed: most likely Night Lords for terror tactics

Warptalons: easily Night Lords

Havocs: could be both

Oblits: could be both, maybe some mutated termies of either Legion??

Vindicator: Both

 

 

So that's what Im considering so far, more comments are appreciated along with any other cool modelling ideas and whatnot. Thanks for ALL of the help so far guys ^_^

Hello again, brothers.

After reading Legion, I wanted to make the scions of alpha. I had for long time enjoyed the fluff of the sons of the night. So I was in a strong debate within myself. Then I saw the models for the DV set and it solidified it for me. Warband of the 16th Company of the VIIIth Legion, Mortem Lux.

I will honestly say that lightning on each of these models has been a true labor of love. I gave up a massive chunk of my free time from work to actually dedicate. But it has been worth hearing complements from the staff at the GW US headquarters. I am not the best painter, but these Nostraman borne make me damn proud.

Edit 1 - I'm still working on the troops. Having a job in the retail industry at this time of year sucks for hobby time. But I will not fail the memory of the fallen Primarch.
