Blackmane
Hi yall I've decided to try to build my own Aegis line for two reasons: -I think the model(s) is too expensive -I wanna try to do it a bit more Marine-ish Short piece prototype WIP(still needs some Green stuff work) http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae54/Frizze/Aegisshort1.jpg http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae54/Frizze/Aegisshort2.jpg Yesss it looks pretty simple but I believe that marines don't want space that block their LOS. therefore I did a simple wall. It will be adorned with wolf skulls and signs of warding and I think it will be painted Shadow grey to represent the 'proud of the colours' fluff The quad cannon will be either 2 pairs of RW assault cannons converted with AC barrels and vehicle parts to look the most marine-ish or I might instead use a vulcan megabolter... C&C are welcome -Cheers Martin Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266404-sm-style-aegis/ Share on other sites
Motorbike Mike
It looks good, but I can already see a pretty big problem with it. You might have quite a hard time getting it to stand up on uneven ground (ground that has rough sand, rubble or has hills etc). I'd maybe consider sliding some thin pieces of Plasticard underneath as feet. I'd also drill some shallow holes and chips to represent small arms fire. Nice work though, home made terrain gives a more personal feel to an army or board in my opinion. Mike. Xenith
-I think the model(s) is too expensive At £18, I personally figure the Aegis is one of the better value kits, in terms of the plastic you get. How long did it take to put your version together? It looks pretty sweet. Blackmane
Thanks guys @Mike: They are surprisingly steady, but if it turns out it will tip over, it will not be very hard to put them on bases. -Concerning details like the bullet holes the one shown here is kinda the prototype and remember I have 7 more pieces I can fill with all sorts of stuff like damage(bulletholes included), pelts, wolfskulls, eyerunes of warding(did they btw stop using them? I only read Prospero burns), SW chapter symbols and I am thinking shelves with bolter mags on the inside. @Xenith: hmm... I think they take a couple of ours to complete to PIP, but most of the time is filing and making sure the measurements is right. Blackmane
A little update on this project: I decided that I wanted to build the 'quad' cannon as something that would look like a Goalkeeper as I find them AWESOME and more Space marine than a quad gun. A lot of thinking, cutting, gluing, cutting apart, rethinking, filing down and gluing back together I ended with this: http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae54/Frizze/Space%20Wolves/Cannonwip1.jpg http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae54/Frizze/Space%20Wolves/Cannonwip2.jpg http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae54/Frizze/Space%20Wolves/Cannonwip3.jpg http://i957.photobucket.com/albums/ae54/Frizze/Space%20Wolves/Cannonwip42.jpg It still needs some details like a little more rivets, some green stuff and som wolf iconography(and pelts) but I think it's getting there... C&C as always welcome Greets -Martin Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266404-sm-style-aegis/#findComment-3260199 Share on other sites
eetdestroyer
Excellent stuff man. Some kind of sensor array would go really well in between the gun and ammo feed too. Keep it up. \m/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266404-sm-style-aegis/#findComment-3260226 Share on other sites

Blackmane
Thanks guys... About the empty spot under the shield I was thinking of the searchlight from the RW sprue, but now I decided that I think that the sensor array from the hurricane bolter cut down iz waaaay better...
