Aspiring champion base/finishing touches.

So I'm finishing up on the aspiring champion for a squad of sons of Horus that will be joining my Thousand sons, and before I can finish him up I need to do his base. Here he is so far.

The middle of the chestplate was originally the grill, but the primer melted it so in an attempt to save it I tried to smooth it down so I can paint it as a gem/precious stone eye, I really should not have done painting last night, just noticed a few bits that are rather embarrassing ;)

And yes, no need to guess which members made me want to paint some sons of Horus :cuss

So any advice, ie base color (the rest of the army is on a dark green, which could not work with his colour, so need a new one) what to do with chest and the center of the crest ect, and yes I know I paint worse then a newbie, and the attempted pentagram looks terrible, (that and this guy's name shows I have been watching too much Umeniko :cuss )
