The story on Quintus is one of honor and valor. The marines with tabards are original Quintus members who served alongside the Dark Angels, and earned their respect. Two of the members are vaunted Imperial heroes gifted with the sign of the Aquila, and about 4 or 5 members have fought in the Conquerors Gladitorial pits.

Aratheon is 150 year veteran of the Great Crusade, and a native of Tallassar as well. Aratheon is known as the "Hammer of Tallassar" for his prefered tactic of softening the enemy up with Heavy artillery including Rapier Laser batteries and Thunderfire cannons. As per Lord Guilliman's edict, Aratheon has taken up sculpting, and can be as often in the Training cages as his studios. Aratheon is also never seen without his Macraggian Wolf "Maximus" who adopted the marine as his own during his scout training upon Macragge.

Great start and you have some really nice marines there!

However you took the picture of the rapier, do that with the rest of the models - the other pictures are kind of washed out/dark so we cant really see the awesome blu that you are achieving.

Due to Real life and Plain Laziness, I've failed to post pictures.

Stormtalon looks great. Highlights look pretty good on it. That chaplain also looks very good I think. What're you going to use your Cataphractti as? Their weapons aren't exactly codex legal ya know? :P

Thanks mate!

Hopefully my opponents won't mind the hammers and Sword guys being proxied as TH/SS terms. I also have Betrayal though so, in that book, they're a legal unit :)

Guilliman isn't bad, the model itself looks a bit small for a Primarch although him standing on the rocks probably gives him a huge height advantage over the other marines.

Weathering is also good on that rhino. I haven't looked into that yet cuz if I do I'd have to go back and redo all mine....

Finally the Cataphractii guy looks good too. Couple things though, something about the gold looks weird, have you tried a wash or two of devlan mud/agrax earthshade? Secondly a few highlights in certain areas might look good. Difficult to tell if you did already or not. For the plasma weapon there, why not take a brighter red and drybrush it onto the top of the plasma gun? Make it look like it's sort of glowing?

Well Vazzy, moving away from the green and turning blue? Never thought I'd live to see the day! :P

The Cataphractii looks fine overall. A few things that I'd do differently are:

The metal part. I think it's too heavily washed giving the sense of "dirty (or it could be the picture, dunno). At this stage I'd drybrusg the golden areas and then highlight them a bit, leaving the wash in the recesses and bringing out a bit of a shine - they are UMs after all, not Death Guard! :)

Another thing would be doing (like Tanith ghost said) would be to highlight a lighter shade of ordanfe on the coils of the plasma. You know, in order to achieve the basic "glow" effect.

Lastly, the blue highlight seems a bit inconsistent: too bright on some contours and too subdued on others... I'd say this is an area you can achieve a better result pretty quickly!

Well done you turncoat you! Look fwd for more! ;)

Yeah what Cpt Semper said. Sorry that's what I meant before. ^_^ Should be going for the recesses more than anything with the washes but if you highlight the edges it should only leave the recesses with that dark look. Would a bit of black around the gold darken it up too much for an Ultra?

The blue highlights are a bit uneven but I thought it was just the camera. You could do a final extreme highlight though with ice blue (or equivalent) and ultramarine blue (can't remember the new names).

Its been ages since I posted here. I've gotten a lot done since my last update, pics to be up shortly. Heres a snippet of the story brother ColdWinter and I have begun to work on.

Calth
5 Kilometers outside Arcology System Echo Gamma 4
XIII/XVII Staging Area

Rufus Scipio regarded the assembled word Bearers with a sneer of disgust behind the visor of his cobalt and gold Iron armor. The Word Bearer in front of him bore Crimson MKIV plate, with acid etched runic marking all along it. Rufus’ lip curled in a sneer. This stank of the brutal hedonism the XVII had become known for since Monarchia and their crusades to the outer edges of the galaxy. Throughout the Galos Muster, Ultramarines of the 129th and 51st company are interacting with their opposite number of the Word Bearers. The Word Bearers voice rasps out from his vox-grill.
“Brother, I look forward to fighting alongside you against the Greenskins. I’m sure we will get along grandly. “
Scipio understands why the Captain wants them to get to know the XVII marines, but truth be told, saw little point in the action. He knows it’s to help salve over the wounds opened 50 years ago, to “make amends” as Sergeant Orphas had said. But that doesn’t mean Rufus Scipio has to like it. He realized the warrior had still been talking.

“I’m the best swordsman in the company, I’ve never lost. Id reckon I’m the best at the muster, if I say so myself. Zytan Marcos”
Rufus ground his teeth, “Is that so?”

The Word Bearer nodded, “Most Likely, I could beat you.”

Orphas overhead the conversation, and in a private vox link,

“Scipio, control your temper, stay calm-“ But the decorated Sergeant didn’t get to finish his sentence as Rufus Scipio, newly raised from the Scout Auxiliaries, slams his fist into the snout of the of MK IV helm.

As soon as he connected with the Word Bearer, Scipio realized hed been goaded into the attack by the other man. But it didn’t stop him from slamming his fist repeatedly into the face of the Word Bearer, knocking of the helmet. A dusky skinned face stared back at him, eyes full of hate. Zytan quickly retaliated and slammed his knee into Scipios gut, then rapidly hammered his fists into the abdomen of the young Ultramarine. Within seconds Zytan had gone of the offensive, and Rufus soon found his own helm off and blood dripping from his nose.

“Bastard!” Zytan yelled, furiously slamming a swift right hook into the side of Rufus’ head, and knocking him out cold. By this point, a crowd of legionaries had gathered around and were attempting to break up the fight, and a crowd of red armored men were dragging their brother back who was still ranting.”
“Bastard Ultramarines! Going to bleed Warrior Kings! You’ll see, you’ll see!”

Brother Sergeant Orphas watches the livid fury on the man’s face, stoic. Inwardly, he’s raging at the foolishness of Scipio, and his inability to control himself. Of all the days the boy chose today to defend his honor. Tauro saw Captain Fidelitas stalking towards him, blood red cloak snapping in the wind. He picks up Scipio and drags him after him, berating the young Ultramarine along the way.
