CSM Attack Squad for all Traitor Legions ?

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I just had to ask.

I recently got back into the hobby a bit, and decided to start over again with CSM.

I got a box of 5 Chaos Space Marine Attack Squad which I'm currently assembling.

Now, they look very basic, as opposed to for example Thousand Sons, World Eaters, Death Guard,... who are very distinguishable.

I'm quite a fan of Thousand Sons and would love to get an army of them, would it be possible to use those units for them or are only units from actual Thousand Sons boxes accepted in games ?

It would kind of suck if I had to limit myself to for example Word Bearers (who, granted, are quite nice too).

Hold off on putting the heads on and order the Thousand sons upgrade pack? Or possibly use them as new recruits (counting as basic marines) or order the puttpts war egyptian style helmets, or possibly say your sorcerer has done an Abbadon and is grabbing anyone he can into the warband.

For example, my army is Thousand sons, all the non transport tanks are thousand sons, all the terminators and bikers are painted as thousand sons (though in the latters case they do have the heads) and all my HQ's are thousand sons. However, I do have a chaos space marine squad of the sons of horus, fluffwise, they were part of a company that rejected Abbadon's rejection of Horus, got almost wiped out for it, managed to escape, and ended up being taken in as sorts by my Sorcerers as allies/assistants.

Should work fine, just paint them up as Thousand Sons, and let your opponent know. You even get TS Legion symbols on the CSM transfer sheet, no?

If you want to go further you could green stuff the headdress using the horned helmeted marines:

As this is the PCA subforum, I believe that it is safe to assume that you are asking if you can count as the Thousand Son unit with standard CSM models? The answer is yes. Not a single bit of fluff says that the Rubrics won't need repairs and I don't they have an infinite supply of the Pharoah helms. :D

But yeah, just paint them up in regular blue and gold and let your opponent know.

If you were asking warband wise, the answer is still yes. It is more than plausible that the Thousand Sons have Marines other than Sorcerers and Rubrics as somehow they managed to retain their gene-seed. It is also plausible that they have welcomed like-minded individuals from other Legions and Renegade warbands into their ranks as well.

Oh yeah, that would make sense I suppose :)

I didn't know there was a specific TS upgrade pack, I'll see about getting that.

I'd need to take the heads off again but good idea, thanks :D

Also thanks for the rest of the info :D
