MustangTC
Hey, How does this look? Wolf Priest, Saga of the Hunter, WTT Lupine Bastion, Quad Gun 6 Long Fangs, 5 Missiles Wolf Guard, TDA, Cyclone Missile Launcher So we've got a unit with 5+ magic ward, split fire, 2+ cover on the battlements, preferred enemy, fearless, 7 missiles, 4 TL autocannon and 2 storm bolter shots a turn. Put a squad of hunters in the building and you've got the heavy bolters, bolters and a plasma too! Seems ace to me. Especially as it defends your warlord too! Nadir
Welcome into The Fang. You need at last 3 Wolf Guards to make this built legal, and 2 GH units (or BC, but most of us prefer GH). Heimdall Skullcrusher
I think he was giving us one combined "unit" not an entire army list. Seems a little on the expensive side but it could work. I guess the plan is to have the Wolf Priest man the Quad Gun? MustangTC
Yes Heimdal you've got it. I work it out at 443 points for the priest, the long fangs and the bastion. Russ Brother 92
Yes Heimdal you've got it. I work it out at 443 points for the priest, the long fangs and the bastion. I think the only problem you'd have would be horde tank/walker armies (i.e. dread heavy orks, MC heavy daemons or artillery heavy guard) as these won't have much of a problem with bastions or quad-gun fire, that said they'll have to cover a LOT of hopefully open ground under sustained fire, and the rarity of these armies coming up outside of tournaments mean not so much to worry about. I would agree that it's a tad pricey in an army smaller than say 1500-2000pts as otherwise that become at least a quarter if not half or more of your army. warsmith
I guess the plan is to have the Wolf Priest man the Quad Gun? Why use the Wolf Priest though - would a runepriest with access to the re-roll failed hits psychic ability and a chooser of the slain not be better? Attach him to the Fangs and they gain the re-rolls (or just cast it on them anyway). You could take it furher and give him access to as econd spell and use the power from the rulebook that makes everything within a certain range (24"I think) move as in difficult terrain? MustangTC
Wolf Priest because with Saga of the Hunter you get stealth which allows you to get a 2+ cover save on battlements. I might be missing something but I though that stealthonly gave +1 to the save and that the aegis line (counting as battlefield debris) gives a 4+ cover........that would mean 3+ no? Dan You're correct, but Mustang is talking about a Bastion, not a Defense Line. Should've read the posts a little more clearly......it did actually say bastion which would have helped. Still, I'm not so sure that I'd rather go with the Wolf Priest over a Runepriest.
