Daemon Smith
Sounds like a decent start to some fluff. In terms of colours, the actual Knights Templar were black and white, and from playing an Iron Warriors army, I know that painting silver can be a real pain. I don't know why it just gets on my nerves. Plus, with silver, gold trimmings and the knight theme, people could easily mistake them for Grey Knights. I don't know about you, but I would want something that stuck out a bit. I'd go with the black, I think black armies are always very striking when the highlights are done nicely. Not even complicated, just neat, like two gray edge-highlights: boom, done. In terms of symbol, I've always liked the Fleur de Lis for Knight armies. I would also recommend making it red, as a contrast. Maybe you could even use red as a spot colour. If you don't know what a Fleur de Lis looks like here a link. Hope my humble opinions help! arterialsplash
Awesome conversions. My favourites are the devastators especially the heavy bolter guy. They really look fluid like they are actually taking and putting down some punishment. looking forward to seeing some paint Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266814-coldwinters-space-marines/page/3/#findComment-3253535 Share on other sites

DS Thanks Daemon Smith, I have to agree I really want it to stick out and so I don't want an army that is standing in the shadows of the Grey Knights or Black Templar. But I will try the black, gold trimmings and white one and I really like the Fleur de Lis so far, so that may or may not come in the army, since I'm going to freehand it. But you are definitly right, the chapter symbol will be red and I'm going to try a test mini soon and I'll post it for C&C, but until then Ill work out the fluff, thanks everyone for the looking at my thread so far I really appreciate the commenting :). Ok now back to the forges of my chapter fortress monastary :) EDIT: Cheers guys, I will do a Tactical Squad hopefully the week after or next week. You guys are going to be pleased with marines going through walls and assault the enemy with bolters and flamers or meltas blasting, cheers arterialsplash thank you for the comment! Malus Trux
When I saw that first Marine leaping the barricade, I was impressed. I especially liked the caved in helmet. Then I saw the ghost Marines. I think they're ruining it for the other models. I kept looking at the other pics & they were great but I kept getting distracted by thinking of the ghosts. Its like one of those kids that has a dad with a great big huge reputation & no matter how fast they run, hard they push or high they fly, their dad still did it better. Look forward to that tac squad. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266814-coldwinters-space-marines/page/3/#findComment-3253871 Share on other sites

I will make new ones when I have the time and they will most definitly be better, those I would have to say are just the forerunners of their kind :D. But yeah the Tac squad which will be first only five man will be something new, so thanks for your honest comment Malux I hope more people can give me their opinion, that way I can improve upon certain elements where it is needed. fivepointedstar
Only thing about your fluff is that you are placing them in the same boat as Crimson Fists, Black Templars, Excoriators, and Soul Drinkers as second founding with the Imperial Fists. Tread lightly since the main two, i.e Crimson Fists, and Black Templars were all there were with 2nd founding within the Imperial Fist line until Black Library authors stated mettleing with fluff and made the Soul Drinker's, and Excoriators with in that same founding. If you're dead set on making them a 2nd founding just remember the earlier you set their creation then more is needed to explain their history in the Imperium. You are right DeathKnight2000, I was doing a rough draft so far on the time line since I'm not sure where they should be.Mabye they should be in the next founding? Since I want them not to be that old but yet have history before the rise of the Tyranids and Necrons. I decided they aren't too much like knights since only their world is feudal but not their chapter in total. I'm going to change their name and symbol I have an idea for because since I recently joined the ranks in the Death Company in my Marines JROTC I would like to commemorate that event. And the symbol looks good for the chapter, I'll post a picture including the new version of my fluff soon with it once I get home from the training. fivepointedstar
Death Company, as in Blood Angels? Sorry, being a son of the 9th. I get wide eyed when I smell fresh blood. :) As far as your IA goes. I'd go for something between the 3rd and 12th founding. Since your marines look ornate, and have specialised artificer weaponry. NightHunters
Good work so far brother, fan of the plasma mauler! Unknown Chronicler
Good work so far brother, fan of the plasma mauler! I actually quite like the ghost marines but then I have been mixing fantasy skeletons and marines since 1987!!! So What's next? Thank you brother NightHunters! I would have to say they are ok for now, but eventually I'm going to have to step up my game on them. The next models will be a five man tactical squad and some homemade Cataphractii Terminators. I believe everyone will be quite pleased with the Tactical Marines since I will use them to make a breach in the walls (hint hint). So stay tuned until saturday that is when I hopefully will make another pilgramige to my hobby store. Now to show you the emblem of the "Death Company" in my Marines JROTC: Oh and before I forget here is a marine at a failed attempt to make Sons of Horus but I think could make a fine colour scheme for a chapter, should I use it for mine? Let me know what you guys think! C&C is always welcome, hope to see more comments in the future. Cheers! EDIT: Forgot to post this but here is some of the fluff remade: Chapter Name: Death Wings or Vengeance Guard (any other ideas are welcome since the name is very WIP) Homeworld: Terrius Prime Warcry: For the Living! We March! Founding: 3rd founding Successors: Data lost, unknown heritage Chapter number: 217 (unknown number of marines, estimated to be around 700 atm) Primarch: Unknown Chapter Master: Death Master/Chapter Master Patricius Sumeraisle Allegiance: The Imperium of Man (of course ) Colours: so far I'm deciding either: Black, gold trimmings, and white for shoulder pads........could also be the picture above depending on opinions ok and here is a quote I have been working on that the Chapter Master said, enjoy!: “We are the Shield of Mankind, the gauntlets of its creation, the sword of purity and most of all we are the Hammer of the Emperor. We will never tire until every last traitor is dead at our feet, such is the edict of our great father and so it shall be. So take heart, for we fight for the living, but never forget the dead that had sacrificed themselves to ensure our future.” - Chapter Master Patricius Sumeraisle Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/266814-coldwinters-space-marines/page/3/#findComment-3254128 Share on other sites
Grizzly_bear
I really like your poses and back story so far, I think the SOH scheme tidied up a bit would be a great scheme, specially if you painted the inside of the shoulder pads black. Keep at it mate and look forward to seeing more. Unknown Chronicler
OK just a little update, nothing special right now is my librarian...for now. Enjoy only very small conversion but really outside the box for me on this one. Now the Librarian is brother Nemesor, who was also a former Deathwatch member within his chapter. He carries a force weapon that is a chainsword, the adamantium teeth of the sword are dubbed with runes and so when he channels his energy into the blade it doesn't just chew through armour but can also rend it to pieces without breaking. His served the chapter for 200 years now, and is known to use psychic elemental powers to aid him in battle. That is all the fluff I have on him right now and I hope you guys like the idea of a chainsword forceweapon, thought it would be a nice idea for this guy instead of a standard poweraxe or powersword. C&C are always welcome, next update will be tomorrow hopefully, cheers! fivepointedstar
the force chain sword is a nice touch. I could see Flesh Tearer's librarian's drooling over that idea. Unknown Chronicler
@ DeathKnight2000 Thanks I did think about it for 2 hours , but your right that would definitly be an awesome Flesh Tearers forceweapon. Any links where I can find a tutorial to make that blue glowing effect for helmet lenses and glowing power weapons? That would be great since I have use for that in my armies. @Gearheart Thanks brother, that was the first run through with that forgeworld scheme, and I didn't like it. But I'm going to use it for my Chaos Space Marines, the Emerald warriors. the nemesis of my chapter and their successor. Hopefully I will get some new minis today before I help out at a play. I believe I will just get a tactical five man squad and a assault marines squad including some paint. I my or may not have an update today brothers, pray to the god Emperor that I do! EDIT: I will have an update in a few hours after I get home, right now there are cadets to train and not much time at the moment, I'll see you my brothers in a few hours then!!! Phalanx Warder
Looking at your original scheme of purple and white, I like it! I have a soul drinker force you can check them out here. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=257436 I think purple is a good color to work with and easy to blend, l will say that green may be a better for the lens. Unknown Chronicler
part 1 of my update today brothers and sisters! Here is Centurion Squad Almeidos! All details will be explained at the bottom: Centurion Sergeant Almeidos: Brother Centurion Morrovar (he has a combat knife sticking out of his shoulder): Brother Centurion Krosis (he is holding a modified storm bolter but with extra magazin): Brother Centurion Atranarchus (I had to take three pictures because you can't see all of him through the debris): right side: front: left side: Brother Centurion Malakar (is also bursting through a wall like Atranarchus): ok details: Centurions: The (Chapter name here) use Centurion Squads as the Venguard of their armies, these squads are sent out to breach enemy defences and create beach heads for the main companeis deployment. Often they are equipped with Scythe Bolters (shown above by Brother Centurion Krosis), these modified storm bolters and bigger and are equipped with two drum magazines and the special ammunnition they use for these lethal weapons are able to punch through ceramite and armour alike with ease. Ludovic Next up (and this may be awhile) is some paint finally, I'm tired of looking at my minis, and they aren't painted. This will not do! I will keep converting until I get my paint, it will not be long brothers. For the next set though is a Scout Squad with Sniper rifles and a Drop Pod EDIT: Here is update number 2 for today, the Ironclad Dreadnought Asmodeus! Enjoy, not too much conversion work, but I added some tools to that close combat weapon and I believe it came out pretty decent. Cheers C&C is welcome! Ammonius
Looking through your thread, I was first struck by your reposing, and the way that some of your marines are interacting with terrain. Then, I get to the wall shatter guys and I'm just blown away. I would never have thought to do that, and then you go and make them look like little freeze frames, wow! Sometimes too much of a good thing is too much, but consider this: Make a Dreadnaught that is smashing a section of Aegis Defense Line in half, perhaps preparing to throw some wall at whatever unit he's charging. Just an idea ^_^ Cannot wait to see these painted!
