ColdWinter's Space Marines

Recommended Posts

@ HellChyld & DeathKnight2000 Thanks guys, I will hopefully, and I do believe so get paint next week. I'm just looking for various tutorials to make glowing effects like for power weapons and such, cause the models look good, and I don't want to make a crappy job on the painting. This will become a full fledged arm, hopefully a chapter one day...So I hope to see this progress in time as you guys, you guys have really cheered me on since the beginning and I'm forever gratefull for that, thank guys :D

@ Ammonius Thanks for that very generous reply, you really made my day. I really like that idea you have for the dreadnought, I'm going to repose him so he just knocked away a wall section or so. Always like to keep fluid motions in every model. So I hope to keep you guys impressed with next batch of marines, which should be some scouts with snipers.

As I said this should be a project that will move on to a chapter someday, all I need is the bitz and I can do anything! But my goal is to give a every squad and not individual marines a history or style. That way it never gets boring, since I hate mass production of dull marines. If I get a drop pod there will be marines strpped into it, or at least that is the idea, now for the scouts...well I don't want to ruin it for you, so I'll keep that one a secret until next time ;). Comments are always appreciated!

ok so this is a guy I was working on, not that great sadly to me but still ok to show out. He is the lord of Khorne within his Warband, and he likes to take on against the Sons of Sanguinius! He is Malaeron, lord of Belassarus!:

Note: He isn't done yet, but he will hopefully be when I get some new paint

@arterialsplash thanks mate! I believe they are a one of the kind in my army, I might make more but for now I will turn my gaze to other subjects. For sure I will get paint this weekend, if I have enough money I will get the scouts with sniper rifles. But of course the Centurions can be played as Tactical marines or as Sternguard marines, which makes them flexible.

@Malus Trux Not sure what you meant by cream filling, but other then that thanks! I worked real hard on trying to give the effect of them breaking through the wall, and once they are painted you can pick out the details alot better. The scouts will most definitly be a challenge since they won't be in motion, but are concentrating on eliminating the foe with precise sniper shots. So stealth and stationary poses will be used on them.

One question to ask everyone, for my next project after the scouts what should I do next? Here are the options, I'm going to make a vote until the end of the week!

Options:

1. More Scout squads

2. Assault Squads

3. Terminator Squads

4. HQ's

5. Bikers

6. Stormtalon & Drop Pod

7. or more Undead marines

so cast in your votes and I will check in regularly to keep in scores!

EDIT: I have decided to go with my own army, and they will be closly related to a Deathwatch theme. More information will be given about them once I have found some data in the Imperial archives

Thank you if you are participating, cause I will do any chapter right now! Thanks mates in advance!

Some really nice modelling work you've got going on here :pinch:

Good luck with settling on fluff for your chapter, I've been at it for about 10 years and have still only got the name, organization and colour scheme sorted :P

If you've seen any of the old hostess commercials, I was referring to the Khorne Lord ripping open the hapless Marine. If you haven't, google hostess commercial or check on youtube.

Normally I'd vote for the Raven Guard but if you've got Space Marines busting through walls, that screams Imperial Fists.

@Razblood Thanks mate, I work to the best or half of it, of my abilities. I will definitly be at the first stages for a few months maby even weeks , if everyone pitches in. The faster I get this done, the faster we can see more updates and pictures ;).

@Malus Trux I remember the commercials now :P, I just didn't reckognised what you said. Yeah there was too much blood I would have to say, so next time there won't be a problem liked that. Thanks for casting in the first vote so far, I have to agree I have been lately traveling to alot of threads with Imperial Fists, but I am unsure of how I will start them. Since I work better with darker colours I need to get out of my comfort zone and start with lighter ones. If anybody has some good tutorial to paint yellow that are up to date so far, then I would take a look at it and make a test mini.

EDIT: Name is almost determined for my chapter and I believe to have a solid colour scheme, background history will be established soon. I hope to be able to present it soon, and not later in the week. Cheers mates for all your support so far, I really appreciate it! But do please vote for what my next batch of marines should be, I am as interested in this as you guys!

I see at least one (Angels of Vengeance) which is already in existence (DA Successor) and one which I'm sure I've seen on here somewhere (Blades Eternal)

Other than that The two that stick out for me are - The Emerald Wardens (Green Lantern Marines ;) ) & given the style your modelling has taken them thus far The Crimson Hounds or The Swords of Carnage :P

My tuppence :P

Now I've done alot of thinking lately, and I have come to the conclusion that I want to do a Deathwatch themed/a Deathwatch army of marines. It seems fitting I would have to seem, but my chapter looks up to them and has a similiar colours scheme as they do. I know I'm threading on dangers grounds but I could rip it off, if I could get a fraggin name for the chapter, anything close to deathwatch or as such would work. I have only a few names such as:

Silent Crusaders, Death Keepers, Obsidian Watch, Reaper Guard, Obsidian Knights, Silent Sentinels and Death Wardens

those are only a few names I have thought of, but they don't cling or I just need encouragement to see it in the light of this chapter. Anyways tell me what you guys think, cause it sounds already like a pretty sweet idea. C&C is most welcome, cheers!

Ok my vote is........ BIKERS. first of all cause i think you could make them look ace and after some static scouts some highly mobile bikers will be a nice change of pace, secondly im planning on converting up some bikers for my night lords and i want some inspiration lol.

@zyxogi Thanks man, I really hope to have a test mini painted first before I work on the others. I looked at your thread and there were some inspiring things in it, escpecially the mauler Rhino. I will be sure to use it for future projects.

@arterialsplash Thanks for the compliment, I will be sure to make some bikers, since nobody else is voting that what I would have to say is coming up sofar. I already have them all posed out in my mind and including some conversions are also in there, I hope they will be inspirational once I make them.

But yeah, my chapter will either be a Deathwatch Black Shield army, or a Deathwatch themed marine army. But all I need is a name I think I might have one either: Silent Crusaders, Death Keepers, Reaper Guard or Obsidian Knights

what do you guys think? please do help me choose that way I can get started on the painting and stop tormenting myself

If your doing a Deathwatch army you could use words like; fellowship, retinue, vanguard, escort or house, in the chapter name to represent the army working with an Inquisitor, which they tend to do. Somthing like House of the Black Guard, or Retinue of High Inquisitor blah blah. You wouldn't necesarily need an Inquisitor represented in the army either, he could be off reading a book or something while the deathwatch are killing some Xenos for him ;)

Id like to see a drop pod. Maybe on a base showing it crashing into the ground with debri flying all over. In the same vein as your wall smashing marine. That would be cool!

^^^^ THIS! ^^^^

Obsidian Companions? Brotherhood of the Black? Sable Guard? Few suggestions following on from ShOsen's post.

The name Obsidian Knights sounds familiar Im sure someone had a log on here using that name? I cant wait to see these guys painted up.

@Sh0sen Hmmm never thought about that drop pod one! But it shall be done! I will have s squad of bikers including a drop pod made, I will also, or should have some paint I think you guys will love the colour scheme too as much as I will. Do you want marines to come out of the drop pod or just it smashing into the ground? Just a question I had, I just need clarification. :D

@Biohazard Thanks brother, for supporting me in so far in this thread. I'm not sure if it was ever posted, but Aquila Guard, Death Keeper could ring a bell. Well it will be done soon, I'm already working on a test mini right now. I won't show it until Friday, so you guys willl have to be patient and lacking the paints it may not be fully finished like the black armour part.

Well stay tuned on saturday for a three-man biker squad and a drop pod smashing into the ground with the wrath of the Emperor! Cheers guys, and thank you for your support this has really made my day in the recent dark events unfurling in front of me

Hmm. Marines in and around a drop pod would be interesting. Maybe in the same way scouts are modeled on the storm speeder. Not sure how they would be posed but you could magnatize them so they could be removed and still used for play. Another idea would be to mount the drop pod on a base so you can show the impact and positioning. These things are supposed to be flying thru the atmosphere and smashing into the ground, not gliding down on parachutes. There's no way they will all be landing softly at a perfect 90degree angle. They wouldn't have seatbelts if that was the case :o

what do you mean by mounting the drop pod? And I might have marines firing or such in the base...this will be fun :o

Pretty much what arterialsplash said. Smashed into the ground with the doors open and everyone jumping out.

Kinda positioned like this picture which I pulled from a Google image search to illustrate the idea and save you from me doing a drawing. Sorry to whoever I'm not crediting for it.

that is pretty niffty there my friend, I had that in mind actually , now I just need to wait until saturday before I go to the retail store to get my minis, no guarentee acutally that there will be a biker squad, they might have run out but I will see what I can do!

Well I was thinking, maby have the Drop Pod falling at an angle but hasn't hit it all the way, so it's still in motion and fallin but right about to hit the ground. and all the books I have read so far, no marine unstrapps his safty belt until they are completly on the ground and not mid way there, that is for all the Khorn flakse worshippers out there to do! But I will play around with it for awhile and take several pics of it later today to see how you guys want the pose, that way it will be perfect and not...undynamical in some way

sorry arterialsplash, I will see if they have a squad of bikers or so, but like I said no guarentee on that one. Anything else you would like to see besides that?
