Looking for assistance assembling Tartaros TDA

Greetings! I have journeyed here in the hopes that someone might be able to assist me in figuring out how to assemble the Tartaros pattern Terminator armour. The friend I took them from swears to me they didn't have instructions but I am unsure do to him getting ready to move and lots of tiny pieces.

my main questions are what is this exactly and where does it go?

and Having looked around the pictures of google and assistance from my local forum, I have come to realize these are the "under" shoulder pads, but how do they go on?

And finally a third question... I was wondering what you lot think would be easier for making them thunder hammer storm shields, attaching the whole arm from the assault sets, or trying to hack the hand/hammer and get it onto the actual legit arm? or even cutting the combi-bolters of those hands and trying to use them?

the 'under pad' as you call it ges on pointy end facing down. there will be a little nub on one side. this faces the front of the model. the first pic you have there is an armor plating band that goes on the heavy flamer arm. it's a...kind of a reinforcing plate that protects the wrist/forearm of the wielder.

see the band on the flamer that wraps around his wrist area? that's the piece in your first pic. also, if you look real close at the shoulder pad on this guy, it gives a better idea how the 'underpad' goes.

as for the hammer and shields, i've been debating that one myself, since i dont want to buy 5 sets of the special weapon kit for just the bloody hammers. i think if you were careful enough with cutting the hands at the wrist, and dry-fit them to the tartaros arm to see how much shaving smooth you need to do to the back of the hands for the wrist to sit right, that should work. the nice thing about this mark of armor is how they did the arms. these terminator arms (particularly the fists and lightning claws) are so easy to use on power armor and still look good, and the reverse is possible too. if you can get your hands on some mk4 assault marine arms, you can use those for the shield arms if you want to keep the general look and feel of the armor plating without having the arms stand out too obvious

I think I have decided to just magnetize the shields to the powerfists themselves. cutting away the hand on the shield and slapping it on like it was mounted( obviously they wouldnt count as power fists anymore)but looking at the big shoulder piece it fits pretty well over the thunderhammer/storm shield arms, so I might give it a shot just like that. assemble one as a test and see how it comes out with the indomitus patter arms just tucked under the larger shoulder pads. hink I will pin it first haha

so I finished the first model, which I just used the big shoulder pads and the full arms of the thunder hammer storm shields. I think it actually works pretty well. figured I would post it here to show it to you guys in case you were interested... although I think the storm shields didn't come around during the crusade/heresy but I can't recall if that's true or not.
