Possible Plasmagun Acolytes

Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong section!

I love the look of the Elysian Drop Troops, but their plasma gun figures are sparse, and would be expensive to get a hold of so many, so i was just wondering if the elysian lascutter figures could pass as plasma gun acolytes?

I would paint the end of the barrel to make it look as though they were glowing blue.

Here is the figure in question.

This would give me three plasma gun equipped acolyte and a leftover acolyte, with which i would only need to buy 3 more elysian guys, possibly the command squad, to complete the henchmen squad i was going for along with 3 plasma cannon servitors (I have planned a conversion for these :o )

So, do you think I could use them?

Thanks, James!

Thanks to counts-as, if you dress those models up such that they're easily distinguishable from anything else in your kit, they'll be passable. If you really want to get accurate (a sentiment I want to support :yuck: ) then you'll want to consider doing something to the forestock; bare minimum I'd paint (and even scratch) that tiny slot (on the underside of the forestock) up like I do all of my other plasma weapons...a bit of bright blue and a touch of white, maybe some gloss varnish in there.

I do blue for my plasma, but I've seen green, red, and several other colors: just be consistent along with the rest of your army. :) You might take it a step further and just replace that gun (part or all of it) with a real plasma gun (like from the Tac Marine upgrade sprue) or the plasma-part off of the combi-plas or some such. Anything you can do to make it both stand out and be accurate (or at least cool) looking will do. :)

The bottom line is this: the more work you put into your conversion, the more willing people will be to accept them as what you say they are. <3

I have recently (yesterday!) painted up three of these as my Plasma Gun armed Henchmen. THe Hostile Environment suits seem to go well theme-wise and as they are holding plasma guns you dont need to convert anythig,

The pack comes with three plasma gunner torsos and 3 normal torsos with no arms so you can make more henchmen if you want. You only need to buy cadian legs for the plasma gunners (ebay)

Really as long as the special weapon doesn't resemble anything else (so no one mistakes it for a meltagun because the other times it shows up in your collection is on a melta model, etc) you're good to go! The Imperium is a universe of infinite variety, no two plasmaguns really always look the same. If you throw those models down and tell me "These three guys are all plasmagunners" I'd give you a thumbs up and not think twice about it :D

I'm the same way, and everybody I game with - in fact, most everybody I've met that plays - is the same way. People tend to get most dodgy around unpainted models, but perhaps that's a separate issue. :D

Can't be sure from the pic but are the weapons separate? If so you could try either of these;

They are made for crusade/heresy marines so might be a bit on the large side but they look cool.
