cptphoenixck
Can anyone help me out, just about to start a HH army of salamanders (Bah! yet more HH, for which I apologise) and quite frankly I don't feel like a bright snot green coloured army, can anyone point me to the closest GW paint to this please? Grotsmasha
You'll need to check GWs site for their conversion graph, but it looks like the old "camo green". Artemid
I think you might be able to base with what used to be Catachan green (I think!), or it might have been Gnarloc. cptphoenixck
Why oh why do they have to change the names of the paints every ruddy year!!! what was wrong with midnight blue or enchanted blue or blood red (well except for the coverage issues) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267123-salamanders-that-arent-snot-green/#findComment-3253614 Share on other sites
Kaedes Nex
Hello, one of these greens may be of use to you. I was surprised by how many muted/dusty greens the new Citadel line added. The reason they changed the name is because they completely revamped their paint line and the new formula meant certain colors would not be perfect matches. This way, people won't buy their new Ultramarine Blue (now called Altdorf Guard Blue) and get angry when it's slightly more red hued than the old Ultramarine Blue. http://s13.postimage.org/s8td4bmad/Untitled.png One thing I should add is that I would recommend not buying your paint online unless you are absolutely sure that is the color you want, because Games Workshop's color splotches are a bit inaccurate. For a much closer match, look not at the splotch but at the color of the paint pot. Even better if you can do this in real life and open the pot to peek inside. Also keep in mind the paint will darken slightly when dry compared to its brighter color when wet. Rune Priest Ridcully
What I'm using for my salamanders in the tale of Heresy is gnarlok green over a white base coat, then snot/warpstone glow, with the army painter quick shade darkshade, I need to post pics of my captain. Bannus
Why oh why do they have to change the names of the paints every ruddy year!!! That way it looks intentional when the shade changes (really, did your last bottle of Snot Green match the one you purchased before it?.......didn't think so). :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267123-salamanders-that-arent-snot-green/#findComment-3255187 Share on other sites
appiah4
Loren Forest + Black Wash, highlighted with Loren Green and then Nurgling Green looks like it could be a good match, but that's just theory. If anyone is willing to try, go wild. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267123-salamanders-that-arent-snot-green/#findComment-3255889 Share on other sites

Red Fury
I'd try a Vallejo Cayman Green 72.067. It's equal to old GW catachan green. http://cdn.acrylicosvallejo.com/f88ed93ca5...me-color-cc.pdf http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/game-color/family/18 This way, people won't buy their new Ultramarine Blue (now called Altdorf Guard Blue) and get angry when it's slightly more red hued than the old Ultramarine Blue. Funny you chose Ultramarine Blue, which is and was a color long before "Ultramarines" came around. That's why you can find ultramarine blue in most lines of paint. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267123-salamanders-that-arent-snot-green/#findComment-3258844 Share on other sites
Ironwulf
Also, they can't Trademark(™) "Ultramarine Blue." However, they CAN trademark "Altdorf Guard Blue." At the point when Vallejo Game Color paints were almost the same colors ("Bloody Red" vs. GW "Blood Red," "Wolf Grey" vs. GW "Space Wolf Grey," etc.), GW certainly didn't want to make it any easier for the competition to copy their stuff.
