Marius Thorn
Good Evening Brothers, To give you some background, I used to play WHFB about 13-15 years ago, never played 40K during that time. I am now a grown man(nerd) however I want to try my hand at the hobby again. I recently purchased a Space Marine Mega Force - I couldn't resist when I got the e-mail and decided that I would like to create the 5th Company of Imperial Fists. The army list I'm going to be aiming for can be found on these forums here: 1500pts Imperial Fists - Please do not hesitate to leave me some feedback and thoughts on the list. - My first step, prior to even considering assembling some models was to sort myself out a decent crafting area, that is mine and mine alone for my indulgence in the hobby. So I went ahead and purchased the below work bench and stool, which I assembled today. Planning and preparation equals Victory! http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q728/Sulfury/2012-12-04180018.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267128-imperial-fists-5th-company/ Share on other sites
Biohazard
Thats a sweet looking desk, looks like it has everything covered ie storage and work space. Can I ask where you got it? I really like the Fists especially the 5th company so will be watching this thread. :o Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267128-imperial-fists-5th-company/#findComment-3253533 Share on other sites
Marius Thorn
I ordered it from here - they dispatched directly from the Supplier, I chose Express delivery and they processed my order on Monday and it was delivered Tuesday by Parcelforce. The box came a bit battered and it has a few bumps, scratches and bends; which I promptly re-bent into position. Assembly was easy, all in all can't complain for £100. I wouldn't advise it for proper tools and real workshop work, it's not quite that sturdy but for modelling it will do just fine. Just need to create some shelving for the pegboard to house my paints now... Marius Thorn
So this landed on my work bench today. http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q728/Sulfury/2012-12-08140254.jpg I've been trawling through the forums and although this book is not considered canon anymore; I am hoping its going to give me some inspiration and flavour to the enigmatic Imperial Fists Chapter. Marius Thorn
Please accept my apologies for the quality of the images, I don't have a proper light box setup yet, nor any white paper to hand, so had to go with the colour of Dorn! I've cleaned up the mould lines, assembled and glued the majority apart from the weapon which I believe will be easier paint separately. I also need to drill the barrel, attach the eye scopes, base this guy, then he's ready for priming. The first of many... http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q728/Sulfury/2012-12-09193049.jpg http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q728/Sulfury/2012-12-09192915.jpg http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/q728/Sulfury/2012-12-09193026.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267128-imperial-fists-5th-company/#findComment-3257154 Share on other sites
Lachdannan
A promising start! Great work area you have there and I can' think of a better book to start your journey. If after more inspiration and motivation, these forums have them in abundance. I did compile a list awhile back of some great Imperial Fists threads, which you can find here. Slyfox1990
I am not even remotely bothered to admit my jealousy of that work area. Mine, althought pretty decent, is definitely imperfect in comparison. How are you lighting your work area? I'm thinking I can see something above you but am not quite sure. More on topic - good start so far. Will be good to see how you progress! Don't feel bad about your work area unless it's the couch with tools on the end table, uncut sprue in the box bottom, sprue discards in the box top, and a cardboard box on lap ;-) There IS a airbrush table setup in garage, but most times I work on couch with my wife close by tv or a movie going...
