Horus Heresy Tactia: Legion Destroyer Squad Tactics

I personally think that if you are going to give Jump Packs to the Destroyers, then you should be kitting them for assault. If that be the case, the Moritat cannot charge after his Chain Fire attack, so why bother bringing him. Almost every other HQ would serve better attached to the unit. Chaplain, Champion, Librarian, or just a basic Centurion.

You have a point, but that's where the regular assault squad comes in. You use the Destroyer squad to provide fire support for the assault squad. You can have the Moritat chain fire and the squad toss Rad grenades. If there's anything left, the assault squad swoops in a cleans up.

A few things to keep in mind about the Destroyer squad. 1) It has the Counter Attack rule, so you're not too worried about things charging you. If you have the Moritat, then you're basically assured you will get the counter attack. 2) They have access to a missile launcher with suspension web. This means they can move and shoot the missile launcher.

When you take this two points into consideration, a single round of shooting from a destroyer squad with Moritat chain firing will probably wipe out a unit. If you don't chain fire the Moritat, you'll still be unloading a nice round of shots. Then you have two units that can assault the same unit.
