Drudge Dreadnought
Hey folks, I'm doing some plasticard work on a tank. I want some way to sketch on the tank to help block out shapes and angles, the same way a carpenter does on wood. Is there some sort of pen that would work on the plastic that won't interfere with gluing or future painting? I don't want to just take a sharpy to the thing. Is there something specific I should use, or does it not really matter? GhostLegion
sharpie makes a very good regular pen (as opposed to their felt tip markers). its generally the same as the permanent marker, but holds well to most plastics ive worked. alternatively, im pretty sure most artist pens would do something similar, if at a higher price point. Drudge Dreadnought
Ideally, I want something that I can wipe off in case of errors. Drudge Dreadnought
Ermm what about a pencil... I've been told the graphite can interfere with paint. Is that false? Is this really this simple? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267211-what-can-i-use-to-draw-on-plastic/#findComment-3254583 Share on other sites
S.k.i.t.t.l.e
You could always erase your pencil lines before painting to prevent any problems... :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267211-what-can-i-use-to-draw-on-plastic/#findComment-3254752 Share on other sites
Brother Nihm
Yep, +1 Pencil. Can be cleaned off after with ease. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267211-what-can-i-use-to-draw-on-plastic/#findComment-3254761 Share on other sites
RebG
Another +1 for pencil. Keep it sharp and the lines will be thinner than most markers too Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267211-what-can-i-use-to-draw-on-plastic/#findComment-3254803 Share on other sites
Iron-Daemon Forge
Ermm what about a pencil... I've been told the graphite can interfere with paint. Is that false? Is this really this simple? I never had a issue with both the hobby (Iron Warriors & Space Wolf army both making use of plasticard) & during my model making college course. We where always told to use pencil when working with styrene/plasticard during the course. rookster
I have started useing an ultra fine craft marker to write on my painted minis, that is to say the text on purity seals and the like since I just can't do it with a paint brush, since it seems not to have any adverse effect on the paint it might work for you Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267211-what-can-i-use-to-draw-on-plastic/#findComment-3254856 Share on other sites
latch66
I'll throw in with the Pencil as well. I've used them to mark outlines for cutting/painting and have never experienced an issue with paint sticking. You can erase them easily. Gurth
The thing is that a lot of people are far too concerned about possible problems, no matter how minor, to simply try something  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267211-what-can-i-use-to-draw-on-plastic/#findComment-3255021 Share on other sites
