Notable History

The Hades Sons are a Space Marine Loyalist Chapter of unknown Fouding and rumoured to descend from the Ultramarines gene-seed. They are a Codex Astartes compliant chapter and are renown for the adaptability for almost any kind of situation, as well for a realistic warfare approach, where the end justify the means.

The Hades Sons have few contact with other Space Marines Chapter, which have led some to speculate that they may in fact descend from the Dark Angels gene-seed, because of their isolationist ways. However, never did the two chapters made contact in recorded history.

The Hades Sons, or Heralds of Death as they are sometime called, are usually required for missions or campaign where the goal is the complete extermination of the enemy, whatever the cost in human lives.

The Hades Sons operate from the Hostile World of Acherus V, near the Segmentum Obscurus. They are known to have selected this world because they wanted a perfect training ground where the neophytes would have to deal on a daily basis different kind of dangers, ranging from the vicious predators to the environmental hazards, which include ''nuclear storms'' (see the Acherus files for more information) to the indigenous mutant population.

The Hades Sons live an ascetic way of life, even more extreme than that of the other Chapters. It is even said that some recruits died from starvation or deshydratation rather than from the actual training itself.

The biggest campaign/crusade know to date in which the Hades Sons have participated is the battle of the Dedalus Gate, a Space Hulk that was seized by Chaos Space Marines traitors and that was wreaking havoc in near Acherus with a small fleet of heretics from various warbands. Responding to proximity alerts, the Hades Sons had first to repel orbital bombardments and landing from the heretics forces. Once this done, the Heralds of Death proceeded to engage the Space Hulk's fleet in a space battle, all the while sending troops inside the super vessel to plant explosive devices near the power engines of the Dedalus Gate. While the mission cost dearly in live, it was a success, and the Space Hulk was severely crippled and destroyed by the Hades Sons fleet. Once this done, the Chapter had to begin purging the various world of the Archerus system, pursuing the remnant of the Dedalus Gate fleet which have fled to the different worlds of the sector. The purge continued for 124 standard Terran years, during which the Hades Sons weren't able to afford answering the different calls of the Imperium for military services. Because of this, the Chapter was given upon itself the dire task of actively participating in all the battles against the enemy of mankind they could for 124 and 1 standard years, streching far their ressources across the galaxy.
