Lepaca
They might be dead in 999.M41, but they are still kicking in M41. If you want survivors of the Horus Heresy who are still present in 40k, they are technically still there, even though they died at the end. Perhaps it might be an idea you give us clearer criteria regarding this, makes our jobs a lot easier. :-) Sorry, you might be right. Maybe I shouldn't just include it in the first post but also in the title! Lepaca, if "dead in 40k" excludes someone from the list, then I don't think any Iron Warriors survived as Toramino was killed by the Heart of Blood at the very end of Dead Sky, Black Sun and Cadaras Grendel was killed in Chapter's Due. The only ones alive are Barban Falk and Perturabo by virtue of ascending to daemonhood. Hm didn't know that. Sorry! The name of the thread is "survivors of the heresy", isn't then a better idea to use that as a criteria? So, who survived the Heresy? Who lived after the Siege of the Imperial Palace? If the characters are known to have died later on that's a different story, but not that relevant. Well, the original idea behind this was to find any individuals who were around when the Heresy happened but are still alive now. I mostly got the idea because Bjorn is always said to be the oldest living Space Marine and I wanted to know if he was really the only one. I am however not completely opposed to changeing this... We could of course simply collect the names of all the survivors of the Heresy and add their current status! Would you prefer that? EDIT: Started redoing the front page! Anybody know how I can get rid of those big black fields? I can't figure out what's causing them to appear. nuclearship
There are many World Bearers there. Is it confirmed they were all around at 30k? Some Chaos Legions recruited new aspirants all the way up to 40k, haven't they? Has anyone read Siege of Castellax already? Many named Iron Warriors and maybe some of them where from the original legion too... Excessus
Speaking of Alpha Legion... Hope to see Arkos in HH as well as Ingo Pech, Matthias Herzog and Ving Neriton, hopefully these people survived... Unfortunately, the way the last two stories has ended(Deliverance Lost & The Serpent Beneath) we'll see more operations end with a lot of deaths. It's like BL is actively trying to kill off the best and brightest of the Alpha Legion... Apart from Ranko, I hated to see Janic killed, he was an exceptional commander! :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267242-survivors-of-the-heresy/page/5/#findComment-3279386 Share on other sites

Some Chaos Legions recruited new aspirants all the way up to 40k, haven't they? Yes, everybody on the list was apparently already alive in the HH. There were a lot of characters in those Anthony Reynolds books... Actually there are a few more in there that might be HH veterans but I decided not to include them (for now at least) because there was no definite prove in the books. Has anyone read Siege of Castellax already? Many named Iron Warriors and maybe some of them where from the original legion too... No, I haven't. Input would be highly appreciated! Excessus
Haven't read any of the AL books so far unfortunately... Anyone I should include? Well, not at the moment. They are mostly no-names in the books, but they are picked for their exceptional skill...and promptly dies at the end... Janic doesn't have enough "screen time" to make a note of him here I guess, however, he IS awesome! (he even gets praise from "Omegon"!) Apothecary Vaddon
Manus died at the onset, and Sanguinius at the end. Neither survived past the Heresy, and unless I misundertood the point of the list, they shouldn't be on it. Apothecary Vaddon
Yes. The addendum at the end states that "Ten thousand years would pass before the next Guardian was drawn to the Noctic Labyrinthus, but by then the damage had been done [referring to someone stealing the book that described who the Omnissiah really was]". Not really surprising, though - the Guardians were all imbued by the Emperor with a measure of his power, I think, so it makes sense that all Guardians would live for thousands of years. It's not clear when exactly she dies, but it's somewhere around the 41st millennium. IIRC the book's knowledge comes up again in Titanicus by Abnett, but for the most part that knowledge became quickly suppressed.
