Greyshift
Firstly an admission - I haven't read Iron Hands or Wrath of Iron, they're on my reading list but to date I've been catching up on the HH series so apologies if the answers I'm looking for are all there! Do IH have a hard and fast rule about which (if any) gauntlet they paint silver, similar to the Crimson Fists? Would a fluffy IH force contain fast, maneuverable units or are they limited to tanks and terminators plus a couple of troops?? Thanks in advance, I want to start a small force and am too impatient to wait for Massacre part 1.... Emperor's Furor
They are very direct and have a lot of troops and terminators, they do have the ability for support elements but for the most part Ferrus liked the direct crush them method. They usually replace one of the hands with a bionic one upon becoming a battle brother I think, this is what Bion Henricos states as it's the only bionic piece he has because he had to have it. hobointherain
I believe they paint both silver and the left (I think) is traditionally replaced by a bionic. In terms of organisation and combat doctrine there hasn't been a vast amount of heresy era fluff written. Until they're fully covered in a forge world book I'd play it safe and stick to a fairly "standard" organisation. I dunno why the hands have always struck me as a relentless infantry type army, but as I say theres nothing I can really back this up with, just a general vibe I get. If your desperate to get started just fill out your mandatory force organisation chart choices and a couple of transports? Thats the way I start every army, means I can get things rolling while still planning out how I'm gonna develop the army. Emperor's Furor
It's in Feat of Iron you see how they work, they basically just go head on against the Eldar, it's also mentioned in other books as to how they tend to work, stubborn, unrelenting fury. Greyshift
Thanks for the answers guys, I've seen both hands painted silver before but didn't know if that signified a veteran or not, will probably go with that for the whole force - its not like it'd be a massive ordeal to paint one black again. And yeah they've always struck me as a foot slogging army backed up by dreadnoughts and vindicators but a bit of tactical flexibility is always welcome! Eventually I'm hoping to add a mechanicus element too so might rely on them for some extra speed Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267274-iron-hands/#findComment-3255122 Share on other sites
