Warmaster

I'm not so certain Horus is saying that Corax is necessarily better than Alpharius. I think he's acknowledging that they operate in similar ways and that when you get down to it, as an ally, Corax is a lot more reliable than Alpharius.

I'm aware Horus and Alpharius were close and have a lot of early history together. However, you have to consider the facts that:

A: There's that small question of WHY he joined team naughty in the first place. Was it the Cabal? Was it for his own reasons?

B: Alpharius has hardly been exemplary in terms of honesty. What with infiltrating other legions without the warmaster's knowledge, withholding workable gene data and what not.

Despite the similarities in operating from the shadows, Corax is much more straight up and down than Alpharius. It's one of the reasons i admire him. He was raised with a great understanding of injustice and the struggles against oppression. I think that Horus feels were Corax on his side, he'd have a guy fulfilling the same role, but one he wouldn't have to constantly keep an eye on.

The one thing that shocked me though: Roboute is pronounced Rowbooty? Freaking ROW-BOOTY?! Such a terrible name for one of the better Primarchs. :)

^ This...

Because hating the Ultramarines is what all the cool kids are doing.

Because downplaying it as hatred when others criticize self-aggrandizing as flawless and examplary reveals massive ego problems :)

Btw, I love UM, and there is a big difference between "hate" and when some things are annoying....

Curious that people only seem to complain about this now and not 20 or so years ago... ;-)

I was always confused by the name but I thought the pronounciation would be closer to something french-sounding... Ruboot or something. I definately never thought that the final /e/ would be voiced. :P

And if you write it out in such a daft phonetic way as "Rowbooty" you're going to be embarassed :P

Actually i want alternate names for the Primarchs now.

If you write fan fiction and you intend to get published (on your own)- you can use that .-) example : Pfulgrim,Gailiman, Lee-man and Kh'an:-)

Does anyone else think that maybe we've not seen the last of Ferrus?

he might get some more coverage in short stories or so, but I don't think he'll be resurrected or so.

Yeah, it still feels like he's about in some form, he's haunting Fulgrim almost, Horus is talking to his skull, I don't expect him to be resurrected, it's just it's odd that despite him dying in Fulgrim he's still "around".

And if you write it out in such a daft phonetic way as "Rowbooty" you're going to be embarassed :)

You ever wonder who's face decorates Horus's Armor?

I'm pretty sure that the face belongs to:

Erebus.

Doesn't Horus cut it off at the end of Deliverance Lost?

Horace (I actually saw someone write 'Horace Heresy' in all seriousness)

and of course Rogal Dorn

And I don't believe Fulgrim gave Horus the real head, he must have had too much fun playing Hamlet with it.

The voiced /e/ doesn't feel french to a frenchman too, buddy :P.

Looks like they tried to make it sound latin. Which is pretty funny, because 'Roboute' isn't really related to Roman stuff, or vaguely close to something that could have been latin (in the anthroponymy). Could be something sounding germanic or french, not latin.

Funfact : 'guili' is a childish word to say 'tickle' in french. So, yeah. Rowbooty Tickleman is pretty hard to take seriously.

Not sure why anyone is surprised that the Primarch of the "Ultramarines" has a silly name. It's not like his whole Legion already has one!

Even more annoying is how his name (and various other names/titles) seems to change from Audiobook to Audiobook..

So far I've heard the following variations:

- ROW-BOOT-AY GOOLY-MAN

- ROB-OOT-AY GOOLY-MAN

- ROBE-OOT GOOLY-MAN

- ROBE-OOT GILLY-MAN (my preferred pronounciation)

- ROB-OOT GILLY-MAN
