infantry only GK

how would you chaps go about making an infantry only army..

 

i wrote a list a while back that i thought would be interesting, but is it doable in 6th ed with flyers being prevalant.

here what i was thinking.

does a foot list need more 2+ saves? i suppose NDKs are suitable as they arent vehicles with hull points.

what about grand masters for tactical benefits?

Some thoughts:

 

What about an ADL for cover saves? Combined with shrouding from a lib this could make your army pretty resilient.

 

I this type of list would also benefit from servos to aid in deep striking (not always best option, but for their few points, they might help out a lot if you chose to deploy in this manner, plus they deny infiltrate).

 

I have been contemplating a similar list, but I was considering purgation instead of purifiers (LOL) since they get a teleport homer, and astral aim might be useful for concentrating firepower (if opponent is trying to screen his juciy units from my some/most of army using terrain) since foot lists aren't as mobile. Probably a stupid idea but I think I'm going to try it, since purifier buffs are all CC and I don't plan on being there with my psycannon unit anyways.

 

I was also thinking about throw away bolter acolyte meat shields to screen the knights as they march up the field, or spending some spare points onto rhinos so I have at least some protection against alpha strike (ie: deep striking flamers).

 

Psycannon firing on 4 shot mode (with 2 per squad) is probably okay anti-air for the most part. Reliably getting at least 1 hit. Aside from ADL, not sure where else efficient anti-air would come from without having to pay an ally tax (which would reduce the number of knights on the field).

 

ADL with icarus, a couple jokero and a beamer inq would go a ways to extending the threat range of the army past 30". Inq could also take psyker to get psycommunion to help get deep strking squads in, if you chose to deploy that way (and can also take servos). If not deep striking, divination power could also be pretty useful. The 4+ inv save would stack with NFS right? So one of your strike squads could become a decent tarpit, plus precience is a great force multiplier as a default.

I'd go with a couple of Divination inquisitors and 4 Psycannon combat squads (either Puri/Purg) for anti air.

 

re-roll to hit isnt it? yeah that would be fun..

maybe coteaz with some purifiers for anti deepstrike too?

if you take coteaz you not limited on the number of inq either right?

Thought about adding in a GM? I know Brother Captains are cheaper but the Grand Strategies handed out by a GM could really help this list. I'm running a similar list in a way and giving units scout or making your purifiers scoring could be a real bonus.
