Astoran
Rune Priest Hrothgar was sitting in the ruins of an old city. He looked up through the roofless building at the night sky. From the looks of it the old building had at some point been a shrine of some kind. War had torn this planet apart. Whatever civilization once lived here were either dead or exiled. His runic staff was leaned against one of the two walls still standing. The runes had taken him here. Some were in the ruins were something he needed to get his hands on. Something left here long before man had build the very city he was in. Something that had caused the war. The aliens had come for it. The planetary defenses had put up a brutal fight. It had lasted for months. When the aliens finally fled into the warp the planet was inhabitable and the very reason they had come lay hidden in the devastated city. The thunderhawks had put him and his men down a couple of kilometers outside the city and they had advanced in their transport the last bit. He had send out his scouts to gather some intel of the area. He expected them back any time now. The sun would rise within the hour. He threw a glance at his oldest friend standing majesticly outside the building. He and Tyr had fought on countless battlefields together. He valued Tyrs abilities as a warrior as much as his wisdom. He never gave the order to attack without first running his plan by Tyr. Hrothgar picked up the sound of heavy boots crushing stone under them. The scout pack leader came before him and bowed. -Rune Priest, we have a situation, the scout said as he put his sniper rifle on his back. -Tell me, Hrothgar answered without getting up. -We have located the city block were you said our price lays but we ran into trouble. -Go on, Hrothgar said with his curiosity rising. -As we came on to the city plaza we took fire from a building. -Were there any casualties? -No but we had to lay down a lot of fire of our own to get in to cower. That is when our coms got a message. We were told to get of this planet at once and not to interfere with their plan. If we were to show our selves again there would be a fight. -Who sent this message? Who are ignorant enough to try and tell the sons of Russ what to do? -They were Space Marines of the White Panther Chapter. -I see, Hrothgar said with a crocked smile as he slowly rose to his feet. Get me my packleaders. Orders in ten minutes. -Should I tell the drivers to start up the Rhinos, the scout asked. -No, Hrothgar answered. We will walk to this fight. You and your pack will stay here and guard the vehicles. -Understood, the scout said and hurried away. Hrothgar took his runic staff in a firm grip and walked out to Tyr. He put his free hand on his friends sarcophagus. -If it is a fight they want, then by Russ a fight they will have! I'm finally gonna get my first battle of 6th ed. It's been pushed on the future to many times now. I'll probably gonna get my ass handed to me by a mutch more experienced player but since this will be my first fight since 2nd ed I really dont care. I'm just gonna have a good time. I'll try and bring my camera and try to make a batrep of some kind if someone cares to read it. It will be a 1000 point battle and my main focus will be on learning 6th ed. Thanks for reading. Astoran
So I finally had my first 6th ed battle. All and all I think I did fairly good. I managed to pull of a draw against a more experienced player. He did play a very soft army so I wont climb up on any high horses. I was truly amazed how awsome my Grey Hunters did. I tore a SM Assault Squad to pieces in one round of CC. My Long Fangs did ok. Killed a Predator, stripped a Rhino of a hullpoint or two and sent a few Tactical Marines to the afterlife. My Dreadnought met his doom at the hands of a Chaplain and a Scout Sergant melta bomb. Poor dread. He allways told the best camp fire stories. He was avanged by 10 angry Grey Hunters. Now I need to paint the rest of my army and get some bigger games going :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267502-getting-into-the-fight/#findComment-3259777 Share on other sites
