Freakiq
Yeah, both of those books have drawings in them that will be sold with the ebooks. More material means higher price. If you look at the item pages for each one, it says so in the "About this Edition." That's why it says "Title(Enhanced eBook). EDIT: Case in Point. The Flight of the Eisenstein Regular EBook Enhanced Version The regular edition is on page two of the Items Pages. The extra material is 4 extra pages and amounts to less than a megabyte of additional material, not something that should double the price. And seeing as they don't even sell a non-enhanced version of the new HH books you don't have a choice. Hence why I've stopped buying from BL. Kol Saresk
I never said how much the price jump was justifiable, just that it is. And what pictures are you taking? I have one off of my phone that is 2592 x 1936 pixels and takes up 1.81 MB by itself. I want to take smaller pictures and have more memory left over. And considering those are pretty high resolution drawings, I doubt four of them are going to take up that little room. But I don't buy ebooks so I can't judge how big one is supposed to be and one isn't for that price. Also, have you considered the ebooks are following the same trend as the regular books? I.e. enhanced version and then regular version three months later? The Enhanced Edition of the regular books have higher quality paper and a hardboard cover that explains the price hike, the ebook versions have none of these advantage yet suffer the same price hikes. And as to the release schedule, once they are released 3 months later I'll already have read them so BL won't get any money from me nonetheless. A pity since up to now I bought ever HH book they released. Kol Saresk
Fair enough. It just sounds like that file is too small for the pictures. I hope its just compressed otherwise I'd just go for dead tree format. Chaplain ChonkE
that is funny JC, because I throw all the dust-jackets on every hardcover I have away. Just give me the boards and no art. Heck yes I am rough with my books. I take them camping, hunting, in the tub, at the park, keep em in my car and work truck, touch them with my lime covered hands. There is no mercy. I can generally read a HH novel in a few hours time, so I have read them several times. I agree with the dry climate and its effects on paperbacks/cheaply glued books. Still, I have hundreds of books from a variety of publishers and the only two that consistently give me probems are Tor and Black Library. Even Ballantine/Del Rey, Bantam and Penguin books hold up better  edit: And I dont consider the quality of the pages or printing process to be as good as Black Library books. I am no expert though. Only what I know from observation and the same thing happening over and over and over again. Actually there's a plus to the new HH Hardcovers, you don't need the dust jacket to have the art anymore! See? http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/bleachit54/IMG_4444_zps97be747a.jpg Note: Finger is in the way on purpose to prevent copyright issues of someone copying and pasting the image. So take the dust jacket off cause you don't need it anymore to enjoy the art work ChonkE! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267545-hh-series-hardback-only-wth/page/2/#findComment-3262107 Share on other sites
