Some commander advice please.

Hello battle brothers

After a long absence I am back into my favourite hobby and preparing a Dark Angels army. I plan to first build a good all-round force, then a Death Wing force followed eventually by Raven Wing. At the moment I have troops, vehicles and elites for my first force sorted but I need a solid yet flexible commander, What I mean by this is that I am joining a dedicated crusade of fire campaign in January and every player must have one commander, though this commander does not have to be fielded in all battles he must be fielded in some and as these will vary I will need a commander that gives me some options. So having had a look at the codex I am really not sure which way to go, bearing in mind both the campaign and my larger army plans, and would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks guys

librarians are always a good choice for flexibilty, admittedly our codex powers aren't as good as C:SM but the rule book ones are nice and you can choose a discipline to suit the game. out performs a company master in my mind as they can do the shooting/assault but also hav ehte psychic powers

a chapter master with a power weapon and plasma pistol and/or combiweapon is fairly generic - can assault and shoot

chaplains are pretty specialised for assault so possibly one to leave at home

belial/samael are both good choices as they give you more scoring units if you are running a multiwing army and you cna upgrade a squad with apothecary/banner. belial also brings deathwing assault to the mix.

Just be aware that we are all kind of hoping for a new codex in January. Depending on the start date of the campaign, you may need to change your character anyway, so it might be worth hanging on until after Xmas to see if there is any announcement before settling on a character. :D
