urifici
Hello te everyone in the forum, I've started a pre-heresy world eaters army, for know I have 10 mk III marines with bolters and Angron (well Angron not yet, but my wife is going to give it to me in christmas). My idea of this army is the following (using Chaos Space Marines Codex): 10 marines tactical squad with rhino 10 marines tactical squad with rhino 10 bersekers (mkIII with chain-axes) 5 Terminators (cataprachi) with angron (chaos lord of khorne) This army will give me the chance to improve my marines skill painting and my skills playing 40k, I'm a fantasy player, I have a 2500 Ogre army. Well here we go, my two first world eaters!!! http://i50.tinypic.com/vsl0zd.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/29n6jiu.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267698-urifici-painting-blog-pre-heresy-world-eaters/ Share on other sites
MagicMan
Really nice man, i like them alot. Im not a huge blood spatter fan myself, but thats personal preference, like weathering. Will be great to see some more of these guys. urifici
Looking good. Only crit I have is the first one's blood splatter on the chest looks strange to me. I don't like it too, they are my first marines and my first attempt to do blood... If someone knows a method to paint blood more realistic I will be grateful :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267698-urifici-painting-blog-pre-heresy-world-eaters/#findComment-3260517 Share on other sites
War Angel
I think the blood looks great. Maybe just play around wih the patterns, try to have it run down more. Keep up the good work, the blood looks really good around the knees. Iacton Qruze
You might try going over your splatters with a bit of gloss varnish. That'll bring back more of a fresh blood effect. Ch@oZ
Wow, just... wow. At first i couldn't believe those are standard size marines- there is just so much tiny, perfectly executed details... beautifully done. Olis
Pretty neat work so far (in both senses) but I do think the gore does need a little bit of tweaking. I'd like to put forward this tutorial to help with that. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267698-urifici-painting-blog-pre-heresy-world-eaters/#findComment-3260717 Share on other sites
Veteran Sergeant
One thing that gets missed constantly with blood effects is the downward splatter effect a chainsword would cause. Not a problem here, but something worth mentioning because it's also missing in that tutorial. One thing with blood splatter is to consider how it got there. What did the Marine do to get splattered with blood, what directions it would come from, what parts of the body it should be on. Blood has so much more effect when it looks like it actually belongs there. For instance, I saw a great model where there was blood on the bottom of a bolt pistol magazine, from when, assumedly, the Marine had smacked somebody with it. That's a cool blood effect. Anyway, that's my thought. Your blood effects look pretty good, but they look pretty random. urifici
Thank you very much for this tutorial @Olisredan I like it! I will practise the bloody effects on bits before the final painting over a marine!! in this way I can depurate the method to apply blood over the miniatures! thanks to all!! My next project (I love my wife), my first Christmas present jejeeje an earlier present! http://i47.tinypic.com/ayww3p.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267698-urifici-painting-blog-pre-heresy-world-eaters/#findComment-3261001 Share on other sites
The Colossus
Regarding the blood on the marine's chest, it's the placement I think is a little odd, I'd have had only one splodge on one side, or a big one, connected. It looks a bit uniform at the moment, especially given the decoration that's already on the chest. I really like them otherwise, looking forward to seeing Angron! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267698-urifici-painting-blog-pre-heresy-world-eaters/#findComment-3261245 Share on other sites

Messanger of Death
I really have a severl problem painting blood.... if anyone knows a best way to paint it please let me know. I paint the blood using this technique (scab red with black, then scab red, and hight light with blood red, all in dry brush) If your not squirmish take a look on Google Image with SafeSearch turned off. It will give you an idea of what wounds and what large amount of blood looks like. You'll quickly realise that Blood Red is far too bright and the name is misleading. Mad Matt has a that is probably best for what your after. Les Bursley also has a video that offers some thoughts on painting blood. MordentHex
Astarte's blood is bright red, everyone seems to forget that small detail. In the end there is no set rule for blood. Give it your best shot and if the blood is bright, its Astarte's blood. Although i don't like the FW Angron at all, Geat job on painting him and the marine!
