TheForgottenAngel
Hello fellow Heresy hobbyists! I'm trying to decide on a fluffy terminator delivery system for my heresy era Dark Angels. I'm looking at either a Storm Eagle due to its carrying capacity and armament and I have plenty of antitank with my melta Jetbikes and Mortis Contemptor Lascannnon Dread. If I go the Spartan I could use the Contemptors to be more anti infantry with Plasma Cannons or Kheres Assault cannons. Either way my force is flexible and has the heavy weapons to bear its just which would be more fluffy for Dark Angels to have. So Spartan or Storm Eagle? alex567
I personally love the spartant, with its flare shield upgrade it is a nasty piece of work, but the storm eagle has a more diverese weapon option. Try looking at it from a different point of view, what do you like more? If you have all areas covered dont take one because you need this or that take one because its awesome. Also what suits the dark angel theme more, descending one wings of fire, or trundling forward like a wall of iron? TheForgottenAngel
Alex you're right Dark Angels aren't known for trundling forward much. Storm Eagle seems like the better option. I have an addition I've discovered when it comes to Cataphractii Terminators lol. I have 20 now! Lol Dual Storm Eagles I think would be overkill though! The idea of the Spartan leading the advance of infantry though is tempting as well. alex567
Do you want to put a HQ with these terminators? because the storms transport capactity resricts you from having 10 terminators and an attatched special character. That might be something to consider? GodEmperorOfMankind
Why not have both? I mean of course the flying tank that is the Caestus assault ram. Can carry as many termies as the Spartan, almost as tough, and it flies! So you're all good and fluffy to boot Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267768-spartan-or-storm-eagle-for-dark-angels/#findComment-3261650 Share on other sites

So you're all good and fluffy to boot I personaly think pairs look cooler, two storm eagles screaming across the battlefield will be as awesome as hell, but I do think one of each would be more productive giving you the benefit of anti tank lascannons (4 to be exact), and the storm eagles assortment of goodies. Just dont forge that flare shielding, means that your 5 hull points are gonne be real handy when those lascannons can only glance you! TheForgottenAngel
For now I've invested in alot of FW heresy stuff. Right now I'd like to stay with just one of them. As for my Praetor I plan in him going with either a legion veteran squad geared for CC or a command squad to stay fluffy. The army is based on early Dark Angels after the discovery of Caliban. The praetor will be none other than Luther. A second Storm Eagle will be in the works but I may settle for a Dreadtalon Drop Pod. I definitely like the rule of two. I'm trying to plan a trip to several conventions that have 30k events here in America. My cousin is working on Heresy era Imperial Fists. TheForgottenAngel
Adepticon is having a 30k large game, Duelcon is and I'm sure plenty of others on the 2013 season ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267768-spartan-or-storm-eagle-for-dark-angels/#findComment-3262017 Share on other sites
GodEmperorOfMankind
Still think you should get a caestus, it's points are comparable to a spartan, and has a 5++ save from damage taken at the front Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/267768-spartan-or-storm-eagle-for-dark-angels/#findComment-3262087 Share on other sites
