2k Imperial Fists

Emperor's Furor

Recommended Posts

Tried to put together a Imperial Fist army, not entirely sure it's that offensive. I was thinking of having the breacher squads march out across the battle field supported by basilisk fire and autocannons who have a techmarine and siege breaker to boost them and look after the tanks. Then hopefully the breacher squad will reach the enemy and the Terminators will teleport in to finish off the job. What do you think?

I'd say you're going to have to change things around to get to where you want. What do you want to keep as the core? Teleporting Terminators? Artillery/Heavy/Techmarine? Killy HQs?

You could switch to Sons of Horus and take Abaddon to get teleport on the big squad of Terminators, but then I'd switch the Breachers to big Tac Squads. Or you could take Orbital Assault with your Praetor, but then you'll have to load up everyone into Drop Pods and lose the Artillery. Or go Artillery heavy, get rid of the Terminators, add something like a Vindicator and another Troop squad and give the Techmarine a Conversion Beamer.

What do you think about this?

effectively four HQ/characters and three small troop units.

At 2k, in HH, troops are going to die fast. People will be expecting 20 man units, 3-4 at 2k. If you are tooled up to kill that, 40 marines are spit on the griddle.

Pick more of a focus. Hit the basics, and round out with support that is tailored to your core.

Do you have the rules? Review the rites of war, then pick your troops and HQ based on that.

HH is pretty new, no one has alot of games under their belt yet.

Is that with the original list, or the new revised list I posted above?

your revised list- your first list has two troops and effectively 6 characters. This isn't herohammer.

single powerful characters will die fast in a HH environment.

The second list though has 20 boarding marines with a legion champion and apothecary in a spartan assault tank, as well as two squads of 10 marines in rhinos and a 10 man heavy support squad with autocannons, tank hunter and wrecker who shoots at BS 5. That's 50 marines and a tank that's the hardest to destroy in the game, I'm not sure what else to change?

Troops

Breacher Squad (20) - Power fist / Melta gun (x4) / Nunio-vox / Legion Vexilla - 425

Tactical Squad (10) - Rhino - Extra armour 195

Ok, you have three units with 40 bodies to hold objectives/score; 800 points invested.

Rule of thumb I use is a minimum of one scoring unit per 500 points. Your local environment may or may not vary regarding objectives/table corners v. just killing stuff. Just something to think on.

In a 4-5 objective game, or table quarters, three scoring units means if the enemy kills one you will struggle to seize half the objectives. In 30k, marines do NOT have ATSNF. Morale checks matter.

A Legion force can put 80 bodies on the table in four units. Your troops will struggle with that number of bodies; granted that will be 300 points more then you invested.

Points to Points a legion force could have three units of 20, with pw or pf with artificer armor on the sarges for about the same points.

rhinos are better on vet squads which are expensive. What do they do for your tactical squads? The tacticals can't have special/heavy weapons, so its just movement. Each rhino is 3.5 bodies.

The siege breaker squad is 50% more expensive then a legion squad for an inv save some of the time and the melta guns. Consider ten terminators who get a better inv save all the time and powerweapons/fists for pretty much the same cost.

If its an unit you love, go for it. Just be aware your are deathstaring, and you need more then one threat to be credible in 2k. One deathstar that doesn't kill much isn't very scary.

Characters/Support

Legion Champion - Master Crafted Charnabal Sabre / Combat shield / Artificer armour - 110

Siege Breaker - 95

Techmarine - 45

Apothecary - 45

300 points in characters/support

Apothecary is useful; but you might as well toss on a power weapon and artificer armor.

What is the role of the legion champion, siege breaker and techmarine? Get rid of most of these, build up your troops, then round out with support.

Support

Spartan Assault Tank - Flare shield / auxiliary drive - 325

Heavy Support Squad (10) - Autocannon (x10) - 285

Basilisk Artillery Squadron (2) - 280

Three expensive units; all of which are good... but unfocused.

You need to kill marines, and AV14. Anything that can kill AV14 will murder rhinos. The Bassies and Spartan are plenty of antitank... the Spartan can double as an AA gun with the twin linking; and the bassies dual role antitank and anti marine.

What is the point of the AC squad? Maybe swap them for a tactical support caliver squad? You lose one point of Str, but its the same number of shots, pretty much the same effective range when you consider terrain, and it gets you another scoring unit.

What is the point of the AC squad?

Probably flyers. They're pretty good at that, and I don't see that the list has anything else to take out flyers.

I actually like the revised list, but I haven't played the Breachers before. Play some games and let us know how it goes. I think they might not be killy enough, but maybe at 20 they are.
