war council

Recommended Posts

Maybe not a formal council but at least a few individuals that the Primarch may keep close at hand, like Khârn in the World Eaters. Angron doesn't really approve of his own bodyguard, the devourers, so he's hardly the most sociable of chaps. Likewise Fulgrim has his phoenix Guard but I can't recall any particular "war council". Same with Lorgar. Many seem to have a formal bodyguard (deathshroud, scarab occult?? etc) but not necessarily an advisory council.

The Emperor's Children legion had a war council called The Brotherhood of the Phoenix as stated in the book "Fulgrim", the book "The Primarchs"(The Reflection Crack'd) and also "Angel Exterminatus". They maybe be mentioned else where but i am not sure.

I am wondering if some legions may not have a war council becuase the primarch of some legions may not seek advice from anyone.

Just my 2 cents!

I know the Thousand Sons had one - it was made up of the most powerful sorcerers of each clan/group and Amon (this is mostly in A Thousand Sons - and the Space Wolves/Vylka Fenryka had/have one which is made up of each of the 13 Wolf Lords, Leman Russ' personal bodyguard and the High Priests (this is in Prospero Burns but some more info is in Battle of the Fang)

The Great Clan Council- iron hands

Except that it did not exist during the Heresy. Ferrus alone commanded the Legion; his equerry, Gabriel Santar, acted as his personal assistant, but that's it. The Council was created post-Heresy to fill the gap Ferrus' death left in the Legion's -- and then Chapter's -- command structure, since it was seen by the Iron Hands as being too risky to allow any single individual to command the entire Legion/Chapter and led it astray, as had happened to so many of their brothers.
