drgabe
I'm still running through some potential list for Adepticon's HH Betrayal Friendly Tournament. (You can find my EC version also on these boards). Since this week, FW announced that they will be releasing some Deathshroud Terminators, I considered what to do with them. So, lets see what I can make with the boys in dirty white armor. 1,500 Death Guard Legion Praetor, Terminator Armor, Master Crafted Power Scythe, Combi-flamer (167) Deathshroud Terminators x5; Melta Bombs (255) Legion Cestus Assault Ram (305) Legion Tactical Squad, +10 (250) Legion Tactical Squad (150) Legion Tactical Support Squad w/ flamers (100) Legion Heavy Support Squad x5, w/ Autocannons (160) Apothecarian, x2, (90) With the Tactical Squads. Total 1477 20 Marines, 2 Apothecaries, 6 Terminators, 1 huge flier! So the idea is simple. Blast the Cestus to the heart of the enemy and assault with the terminators at the juiciest target. The scythes can choose to attack all models in BtB if they want. But with only 2+/5++ they will have to be a little careful with their I1 weapons. The flamers all get Rending per the DG special rule, which I tried to add in as many places as I could. Its likely I'd increase the number of flamers in the Support squad a bit (it also Gets Hot... which means I'll end up killing a few of my own dudes!). The CAS is a beast and that Magna-Melta can cause some havoc in the back field. Being AV 13/13/11 but ignores the Melta rule will still likely die, but only after dealing some serious hurt (I hope!). The Apothecaries seem out of place or cliche (can't decide which). I could dump them for another Support Squad with flamers. Anyone getting into my home objectives would pay a pretty price for the prize. Its another scoring unit which is needed. Anyway, input suggestions or just plain mockery would be appreciate! Jim AMM realgenius
Looks pretty dirty, in a good way. I think this is what a lot of lists at 1500 will look like: a big flying Death Star. There's not really a way to do multiple small units with this book, so I think me biggest, deadliest units will be prominently featured. drgabe
Oh, I like the Apothecaries. Its just that from a fluff prospective (remember this is a friendly type of game!) they seem to be shoe-horned into place. But from a game stand point I think they are magnificent. I just talked to one of my gaming group and there is an extra Cestus Assault Ram that was purchased and then moth-balled. My group does lots of Apoc games and people tend to play expensive fliers in group orders. Things like this happen fairly often. So... go me! I think that the key is waiting to see when FW will release the Deathshroud Terminators. Time is starting to run short and I'm gonna need a lot of marines painted quickly!
